The Apartment was all that we had hoped for and more. The Location - literally on the border of the old town and the new town is ideal and less than 15 minutes (with bags) from the railway station. The apartment looked very freshly decorated and was very well equipped. Beds and sofa bed very comfortable and the air conditioning excellent. The apartment is up 3 floors so won'br be suitable for less mobile people, however, this did mean that the view from the balcony into the square and up the main street was great.
Salerno itself is very interesting - do take the time to explore the churches, the Minerva gardens and wander around the town. There is even a small town beach less than 10 minutes walk away. Maybe not an "all day" beach, but good for an hour or so and a quick swim at the end of a day.
The Amafi coast is easily accessible by both SITA bus and boat. As we were short of time, we only spent one day on the Amalfi coast, taking a boat to Positano, then bus to Sorrento and then back (via Amalfi) on the bus. A long day, but well worth it - if you have more time you should do this in 2 or 3 trips!
Another not to be missed trip is to the Paestum temples (bus or train) - the temples are just stunning.
We would highly recommend both the Apartment and Salerno.
