This is a well appointed, spacious apartment in a convenient central location. The owners were extremely helpful before and during our stay, giving advice on what we might need to take with us (almost nothing!), travel tips and things to do/places to go. They provided beach towels and left us a lovely welcome basket with local ham, cheese, milk, fruit juice, bread and snacks.
The kitchen & dining area is double height giving a really spacious and luxurious feel, however the staircase is very steep and not suitable for anyone less mobile or unsteady on their feet. There is a ground floor bedroom and shower room though.
The bedrooms are well equipped with all linen, towels, plenty of storage and fans in each room.
The apartment has an air conditioning unit which cools the main living area really well, however when we stayed in the height of summer (32-36 degrees) it really didn't help to cool the upstairs bedrooms apart from the one facing the AC behind curtains. The downstairs bedroom did stay lovely and cool.
It's an old slightly quirky building with modern facilities. As a result, there is not a lot of natural light downstairs. However there are plenty of lamps etc. Then again, we spent a lot of time with the shutters closed to ward off the midsummer heat!
Valencia is a lovely city with lots for the family to do and easy to walk around. We only used taxis to get to the City of Arts & Sciences (but walked back) and the Metro to the beach. All very cheap and easy. Just don't leave your sunhat in the taxi like I did...!
Thank you again to Raquel and her husband for their friendly welcome and all their help, even though our Spanish is lousy. Thank goodness for Google Translate!
We were a family of Parents, Children and Grandchildren so hotel accommodation wouldn't support our needs however this was perfect
The location was excellent being within the old town so within walking distance of many cafes, bars and restaurants
The host organised taxis for the further afield attractions
Valencia is a great city
