After a walk to the Old Town we were wanting to enjoy some delicious tapas. After a recommendation from the lady in the nut shop (yummy pistachios) we found ourselves sitting at La Cava Aragonesa. What a traditional upbeat place to enjoy the sunshine and tasty food. We were greeted with a smile from a friendly waiter who took our drink order and gave us some serano ham and tomatoes on bread whilst we browsed the menu. We decided upon ham croquettes, potatas braves, beef (so tender, like thin steak) lamb skewer and half kilo of mussels. The mussels were plentiful and so fresh. The service was quick and the dishes kept coming. Although busy it was an atmospheric enjoyable experience. There was an English menu provided which proved a fun game of snap against the Spanish menu with your waiter. For our meal, the prices varied from 1.90 euro to 5euro for the half kilo of mussels.
Thank you for an enjoyable time!!!!

Huge selection of Tapas dishes all displayed in chilled cases. Too much to choose from! But all excellent! Can get very very busy especially at lunchtimes. Situated in the heart of the Old Town close to many other great bars and restaurants, this is the place to visit!

Now whilst the title might not be a too amazing given the small amount of tapas in Benidorm, this place really does live up their with some of the best. From the cave like interior with hanging legs of Serrano ham, to the atmosphere. I never saw this place quiet.

I had 6 meals in Benidorm. Three were here. A glass of either red or white wine (beer also available) at around 2 euros each was a great accompaniment to the great selection of tapas available. Either sit at one of the tables or at the bar counter whilst surrounded by temptations. With most tapas items around 1.80-2.50 euros each there was plenty to choose from.

I recommend trying their tapas chef recommendation. The first day this was fish cooked in a light batter stuffed with spinach and I think pine nuts. The second day was was a parcel of what resembled haggis like mixture. I had octopus, prawns, crab, calamari, fish, pork, bacon wrapped dates and more. About 8 hot tapas dishes and 3 glasses of wine for about 20 euro.

They have large plates also that you can order including Serrano ham, fish, tiger prawns, papas bravas.

This is definitely a must visit place in Benidorm for the foodie amongst you. If you are looking for quiet with plenty of space this may not be for you but if you want to live like a local and enjoy the best atmosphere with great attentive staff who speak English much better than my broken Spanish whilst enjoying a good selection of food. Then this is a must. I will return next time I'm in Benidorm
