We chose La Loma Calle due to the proximity to both the coast and town of Mercia.
Ali Cante is a short drive away and the nearest, beautiful beach is Los Alcazares. On the beach you'll find plenty of Paella and ice cream as well as vast stretches you can spend all day walking on, with plenty of space to flake out and doze in the sunshine.
We weren't actually too bothered about the accommodation as we intended to be out exploring the majority of the stay, it was just in the right place and very reasonably priced for the size. What we actually found was an apartment we didn't want to leave, with quiet communal pools on a great site which has restaurants, paddle tennis courts, shops, and the intercontinental 5* hotel, which is open to the public for restaurant and spa services.
The apartment itself is decorated as what I would call a 'home from home' and built to the owners clearly high standards, rather than most apartments built for holiday lets being furnished and decorated 'to a price'. There's also a parking space underneath the building which means each time to step into the car, it's been parked in the shade!
We hired a car from the airport for very little money which gave us access to a lot of local attractions.
Among these were the zoo at Mercia. We went during the week outside of school holidays and there were very few people there, we almost owned the place! At certain times there are opportunities to feed the animals, including the Giraffes. We did this, free of charge, and got very close to the animals, which is an opportunity you'd pay a lot of money for in the UK. In fact two if us got entry, parking, and free return the following day, including feeding the Giraffes for less than one person's entry to Chester in the UK.
If you'd like a little more variety, you'll find various bars and eateries just outside of the gated complex which are easy to walk to (10 minute walk at average pace), all flat ground.
Can't wait to return to this place and do it all again, i'm sure there's more for us to find!
We have now been for the last two years and will be returning this year. The apartment has everything you could ask for, and our family of 5 have plenty of space to relax. The outside area is large and we enjoy many a meal on the terrace in the evening. A lovely never crowded pool is outside the apartment. I enjoy the golf course, great resort course. There are also many good restaurants on site and on the nearby boulevard, the family particularly like Flavours. Its also very easy dealing with James when booking, and his management team on resort make sure all runs smoothly.
This was a lovely & relaxing place to stay in an idyllic surrounding. With direct access to the pool and a number or restaurants within walking distance it is a perfect setting for a family or a couple wanting to escape the stresses of every day life! I'd recommend hiring a car for the stay as within 30 minutes you can be at the beach, a shopping centre or the zoo to name but a few. The zoo (Terra Natura Murcia) is excellent value for money and includes animal feeding and shows in the entry price. What I particularly enjoyed about staying in this apartment was the stunning views, the equipment provided (including washing machine & international tv stations) and the homely feel of the decor.
