We had a wonderful meal here. The service was excellent. The restaurant's specialty is lamb, and it was fantastic. I would highly recommend this and we will definitely return if we are back in Madrid.

A wet and cold night in Madrid, saying farewell to an old friend who was returning to New Zealand. This was the sort of comfort we needed. The warmth of welcome was impressive. This is a very large space which can accomodate large groups and intimate dining experience.
The sommelier, unusually, recommended the house wine, which was quite extraordinary. A wine grown on the outskirts of Madrid. Who knew?
We ordered a couple of entrees of croquettes and snails, which were exemplarary. Then the highly recommended lamb lag for two for the chaps - and the deer for my dearest.
The lamb had been charred and cooked on a spit - and you know tender when the waiter, serving it charmingly at the table, rather theatrically pulls it apart with two spoons.
It was fabulous and extremely generous in portion. Served simply with some sautéed potatoes. It needed nothing else.
The atmosphere was wonderful. The service was as good as it gets - without the attitude.
Totally recommend this wonderful place.

It is not so easy to find such a huge restaurant. One big room at the ground floor and next two on the first and second floor. As food was very good, you may feel good there, if such a big space and a lot of people don't disturb you. I was impressed by efficiency of service.

We wanted a deluxe meal on our last night in Madrid. Posada de la Villa exceeded our expectations. On Cava Baja St., the Inn dates from 1642 and was restored in 1980. You enter and are immediately greeted by a host and the large wood-fired oven on the first floor. House specialty is roast lamb and it definitely was special. Two of us shared an order for "one". A serving for two is on the menu and they will happily downsize it for "one". We also had the Roast Red Peppers “Piquillo”. They're not just oven roasted peppers. Absolutely tasty. The wine list is extensive. Not knowing so much about Spanish wines, we tried the house wine, which turned out to be a fabulous hearty red blend. I'm not a "wine snob" but I do have my preferences, and this was a really good wine. We ended up buying a bottle to bring home. Service was top notch! Presentation was special too linen, beautiful place settings, fresh flatware/dinnerware for all courses, etc. I thought the meal was a bargain, and it truly was. A couple blocks from Plaza Mayor, streets were crowded with cafes and people, not a sketchy area at all in my opinion. This restaurant made our last night in Madrid absolutely special. I'd definitely go back on another visit and highly recommend it for yours.

The roast lamb is delicious, and beautiful decor. Though a bit pricy, the service is excellent, they also gave each of us little sweet treats and a small key as a token. What a wonderful meal. Be sure to take a cab back when eating late, we just witnessed an attempt robbery on the street.
