“Great Airport Hotel”
Reviewed 6 June 2012

A very modern and clean typical airport/conference center hotel. A small pool with a very small amount of outdoor space. Be sure to take a SIM card if you have your laptop as they want 22E AN HOUR FOR INTERNET ACCESS. The hotel is bordered by a highway and what appears to be an industrial park, but the interior of the hotel is very quiet. The staff was grand. The free shuttle bus to and from the airport runs every 20-25 minutes

We did not eat in the restaurant, but did have sandwiches and a beer in the lounge area. No complaints.

Possibly one of the nicest places I've ever stayed! Not cheap for the regular rates, but for a combination of 15k HHonors points and 37 euros, VERY worth it! The problem with an expensive hotel is that, well, everything is expensive. The reception said the breakfast (if reserved the night before) is 20 eur, but it's 26 eur walk-up. Internet is another 10 eur for 1 hr or 22 eur for 24 hrs. Mini-bar was well stocked with moderate pricing. Dinner at the restaurant is quite expensive, but the sandwiches/tapas at the bar are reasonable (15 - 20 eur). HHonors Silver got me a 20% discount on my burger (huge and delicious!), so I can't complain. I did not try the breakfast buffet. The bar/lounge area has cool design accents and is definitely a fun place to hang out. This Hilton definitely has the mark of an international hotel with well-trained, helpful staff members from many different countries.

The building/lobby is beautiful, very modern...perhaps a little dark in the evening---lots of "energy conservation". I found the hallway to my room to be rather dusty and heavily scuffed, but since the lights were so dim it was hard to notice :)

I was checked-in by a delightful young woman (Argentinian, I believe) who handed me a personalized welcome letter and was very friendly and helpful. She took the time to explain all of the hotel services, breakfast, internet, etc.

The ROOM is amazing! I was given a standard room on the 2nd floor---but it's hardly "standard". The separate shower/bath tub is nice, and the ubermodern glass sinks are cool. You can even listen to the TV/radio through a separate speaker in the bathroom! Toiletries were high quality. A few details like a broken ethernet cable and hotel information that was obviously water damaged (from cleaning or guests) made me wonder how much attention the cleaning staff really pays. For $250/night in a 5* hotel, I would expect a little more attention to details. However, the room itself was spotless.

The airport shuttle service was great! It runs continuously every 20 minutes from 6 am until late in the evening (midnight maybe?). I think they run extra buses at peak times to accommodate the volume of passengers. It's about 10-15 minutes from Terminal 4, but less than 5 from Terminal 1.

Highly recommend the hotel, and I will definitely repeat!

Room Tip: If you've got HHonors status, ask for penthouse-level or executive-level floors!

This hotel is a very quick ride from Barajas airport. The Metro stop is a 10 minute walk through a decent neighbourhood. Hotel is modern and clean and has a first class buffet breakfast. Rooms on executive floor are nice and quiet. Complimentary access to the lounge was a nice perk. Bus to airport was convenient and frequent. I highly recommend this property.

The Hilton Madrid Airport is a splendid airport hotel. We stayed there once after a late-night arrival and liked it so well that on our next visit to Madrid we spent our final 24 hours there. It was a great place to rest and reflect after a busy week of meetings and tourism.

The rooms are comfortable and functional. There's a good gym, a swimmable pool, a good breakfast with a variety of selections from Spain and elsewhere, and a speedy airport shuttle. For guests on the executive level there's a cocktail hour with good food and wine, and the nearby Plenilunio shopping mall has restaurants, stores, and movies. The hotel employees with whom we dealt were almost all capable and helpful.

One thing that may not suit everyone's taste is the self-consciously modern decor. We found the bright-red kidney-shaped chair in our room pointlessly jarring, but perhaps others will find it charming. Another relatively minor problem that would be easier to fix is that the operators and front-desk staff are vague and even evasive about the shuttle schedule. When we complained about this after our arrival, one reception desk employee told us that they do have a schedule -- he said the shuttle leaves every twenty minutes at approximately :05, :25, and :45 -- but that they won't reveal this to customers when they call so that they won't be disappointed if the shuttle arrives late. This is a serious and irritating miscalculation, but we still like the hotel a lot and hope to stay there again on our next visit to Madrid.

Room Tip: Some of the rooms have a panoramic airport view. You can watch the planes land with a picture-book...
