Worth a visit during the free time of 6pm-8pm otherwise you pay €15 a ticket which, coming from London where museums/art gallery's are free, seems a little steep to me. Some nice pieces on show here and excellent for a rare rainy day in Madrid, great tapas bars around it too.

I had an absolute delight searching through the collection here at del Prado. A life long goal, to see the outstandingly well preserved collections.

The museum has a very good web site that helps with planning the visit. I get saturated after a few hours, and have a hard time appreciating what I am seeing, so I need to do a bit of planning in advance. With that in mind, I could spend time seeing selected works of Goya, Reubens, Bosch, and a few other artists I've wanted to study up close. That is a place where you could probably spend months, so planning is a good thing.

You need several days to visit the Prado, but if you are short of time, limit yourself to the most important paintings by getting a brochure at the reception. And prepare to walk a lot! For tickets get there very early, entering the museum takes time, better get tickets on line

We took a guided tour with professional guide and it was unforgettable, it was interesting for everyone and the time passed very fast and we were able to see only a small part of the museum. We'll be back for sure.
