I went to Plaza Mayor today with some children and we had a lovely morning. It’s clean and safe and the Christmas stalls around the square are colorful and there were plenty of people but it wasn’t crowded. The building around the Suarez are also worth seeing. Nice place to visit

Plaza Mayor is an historical square with statues, shops, bars and restaurants. There is a tourist information centre and in the daytime you will have people selling counterfeit clothes while making regular checks for the police.

For us this was the meeting point and starting point for the Free Walking Tour. It did mean we hung about here for a while and then learned about the history of the place once the tour started. It used to be a smelly place back in the old days.

The place caters for the locals. It was too crowded and there was threat of picpockets because of close body contact constantly banging into people. Unable to relax there. Maybe it would be better to visit not during the peak season or bank holidays.

This is where you'll find " Mercado de San Miguel" with its vibrant ambiance, fun people and the best tapas in the world! I could have gone there for dinner every day but of course, I had to try some other places! Just Wow!
