“Ideal for the cathedral - frankly what else to you want?”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2011

Some reviewers have queried a variety of aspects of this hotel. Frankly it is as it says on the tin....small and bespoke and ideal for the cathedral. Indeed if you really drag your feet it may take you almost 4 mins to get to the main square.

The room we had was a 'superior' and although small-ish, it was clean and comfy and completely adequate. You are not in Santiago to stay in your room so this hotel ticks all the boxes for a short stay in this town. It may be a touch noisy if bagpipe music is not your thing during the day (although again why are you in your room during the day when the city is on your door step - literally).

On the practical side, the hotel is in the very centre and so you need to drive through what we may think is a pedrestrain only area until you hiot the taxi rank. Drop you bags and then go to the pubic car park about 100m away (20 Euros for 2 days). The staff were more than helpful and answered all my dunb questions via email instantly - oh the power of wifi. Breakfasts are great if you cant be bothered to ventue out.

In sum, this is a winner for a short visit to Santiago - 2 nights was enough for us to see everything and so would probably have found minor nigglrd to moan about if satyed longer. For the location, service, comfort factor and cost, this hotel is a winner.

Room Tip: you will feel odd going through no-entry signs to find this hotel by car - press on and loiter by t...

We got the small room and it was very small, even for European standards, maybe good for one person or two little people. Other than that, the place is really charming, like an old house right next to the cathedral (our window had views of the top) and very convenient to all the monuments in the historic part of town. The staff was super nice and very helpful recommending authentic restaurants (not tourist traps). Everything was clean and the towels smelled really nice and fresh, not like bleach as in most hotels. The internet connection worked great. Overall it is a great little hotel but next time I would book a bigger room.

Room Tip: Small rooms are very small, be advised!

Stayed one night in this hotel at the end of a week in rural Galicia. It was a very pleasant end to a wonderful holiday. The hotel decor is very warm and cosy, the location perfect for everything that Santiago has to offer (and thats a lot), the staff very friendly and best of all, the beds very comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed in this hotel for two nights. It has an excellent location for strolling around Santiago and getting a feel for the city.
The man on reception was unfriendly and not at all welcoming. He remained gruff all weekend. I did not meet any other staff.
The room was dark and smelled heavily of cigarette smoke. Even with the windows open we could not get rid of this smell. It was rotten.
It was quite noisy at night as it is very close to the square in front of the cathedral.

I walked the Camino de Santiago and my family met me in Santiago. After so much time alone I was a little worried about being in a small room with other people, but the room was comfortable and plenty big (especially for the heart of the old town and at this price). Everyone was very friendly and helpful, and we'd definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: We got a room for 3 people and it was nice and big by Spanish/European standards
