We had a great lunch sat at the bar in the hub of the bustling market surrounded by local shoppers and workmen. The atmosphere was great, the staff friendly and welcoming, and for only €12.50 the 3 course lunch with beer or wine was fantastic value. We paella, calamri, sausage and fish followed by a gorgeous home made almond cake. When a lot of places in the area were quiet or half empty Bar Joan was bustling with people waiting for tables but with such quick service the queue went through quickly. We didn't try the tapas but it looked good and seemed to be selling well both at the bar and as take away. The menu was available in about 6 different languages.

Lovely tapas bar in the market. Cheap and cheerful lunchtime bite with beer. Good tasty food sat at the bar with the locals. Friendly staff and had a menu in English which always helps as my Spanish is awful!

For 12 euro you get a paella with sea food plus a grilled fish or meat with garnish, a beer, a desert that you chose and the expirience of eating on a bar in a market place.

They have great 3 course lunch options who you can eat like a local before the siesta. The hubs got the paella appetizer as a 1st course (which can be shared), then simple steak with fries, tomato, a padron pepper. He then ended it with caramel flan which was not good at all.

I had patatas bravas, cod fritters (meh), freshly roasted pedron peppers.

The staff was friendly and fast. The cafe con leche was great.

Overall great local experience that I wished I could come back again.
