I say sweet smelling as it smells like a bubble bath everywhere you walk, except in the rooms. The bed was hard but very comfortable, my husband and I had some very good nights sleeps. The bathroom was gorgeous with a good shower and Rituals products to use. It's also in quite a central location - we ended up walking into Catalunya rather than taking the Metro/bus and found some interesting streets to walk down as an alternative to the Gran Via. I'd highly recommend the cocktails and tiramisu on the terrazza, yum. The breakfast staff were lovely.

Room tip: Go higher as the streets can be noisy in Barecelona

We had a 4 night stay at Villa Emilia,breakfast included,which was good.Emillia is a wonderful boutique hotel,great atmosphere with a calming decor,the staff were excellant,helpful with good advice on local places,the rooms very comfortable,spotlessly clean,fresh and modern in style,bathroom was a very good size with walk in shower and toiletries provided,the roof garden at night was a real bonus with soft lighting overlooking surrounding area.We found the location very good as it's only a 10-15min walk to Las Ramblas and the wonderful Escriba coffee shop with delicious pastries-desserts and fab macaroons,all areas are accessable by foot,metro or taxi which we found very reasonable,Barcelona is a fantastic city and Emillia is a haven to go back to after a long day out.

Room tip: Rooms facing small courtyard will block out any street noise.

As we have been to Barcelona many times a plus point for me is that this hotel is away from Las Ramblas & the old town, probably about a half hour walk but the metro station is at the corner of the street. There are plenty of bars & eateries in the immediate area & the old bull ring, which is now a shopping arcade, & the magic fountain are less then a 10 minute walk.
I really liked this hotel, charming helpful staff and although some people on here have complained about the noise from the bar, in our room there was a wall sized wooden sliding door which annexed the bathroom & completely soundproofed the bedroom.
From a wheelchair perspective it was a little challenging;
1st, there are 2 lifts the one one the right is bigger and much easier for the chair, we only found this after struggling in the smaller one a couple of times.
2nd, the bedroom was easily big enough to get round with good acces at both sides of the bed but only just big enough to get past the bottom of the bed (I need 23") also the bed was quite low at 53cm.
3rd, the bathroom is far too small, which is a shame because there was drop down rails at both sides of the toilet, a shower seat and a reasonably low sink with knee space. BUT, the glass shower screen blocked access to the shower & prevented you getting the chair to the side of the toilet. In the knee space under the sink was a towel rack & pedal bin but even when we moved these there wasn't enough room between the shower screen & the sink to fully turn the chair. If you have some mobility it is fine but if confined to a chair it is a real struggle.

If the bathroom had been bigger I would have rated this hotel as excellent, if your able bodied and want to see another side of Barcelona it is a great hotel, & we will probably use it again for a one night stay but for me the bathroom restrictions would make it unsuitable for a longer stay.
Breakfast was included in our package and was of a good quality continental buffet, the bar was popular but we didn't use it and the staff couldn't have been more helpful.

Room tip: Ask about the sliding door to keep out bar noise.

We had a great 1 night stay in Barcelona at Villa Emilia! Comfortable rooms, nice roof top sitting area/bar (it was raining when we were there but I could see how amazing it would be in good weather), awesome lobby bar area and a friendly reception. A bit of a walk from Las Ramblas but was totally accessible by metro.

Everything was perfect, the room was very clean and unattached. Nice and spacy bathroom.
The breakfast was little expensive but it was nice. I would like maybe some more variety but it was ok.Excellent coffee and very close to Roccafort Metro station!
