Had a great time in Barcelona, thanks largely to this fantastic hotel. Situated in a great location between place de catalyuna and place de espana. Really nice, modern decorated rooms with a cracking shower.
The main plus for us, was the beautiful roof terrace. Although quite expensive ( much the same as most of barcelona), the relaxed atmosphere was a god send for our getaway weekend. We really enjoyed chilling at the end of the evening up there.
Also, big thanks to the very helpful, friendly staff, who made our stay that much better.
Breakfast was excellent also.
One downside for us was the lack of noise insulation. When we fancied a lie-in, we were woken as soon as the cleaners began.

The Vila Emilia in Barcelona provides a quiet, stylish stay in an area which is easily accessible to most tourist attractions. The room I stayed in was modern and comfortable with everything I needed. The rooftop terrace is a good place for a drink in the evening and the barman provides good tips about local restaurants. There is a business centre on the mezzanine floor if you want to catch up on work and the internet service throughout the hotel was good. The staff are helpful and went a long way to ensure a memorable stay.

Eventually landed on Villa Emma because more centrally located hotels (rambla - barrio gothic) were far more expensive or fully booked. (by the way, the booking.com page popping up from Tripadvisor was a bad experience: hotels indicated as available at a certain price were at double or over in price. I suggest Tripadivor to remove the link if booking.com do not change such troubling policy !)
Easy to reach from airport Villa Emma well deserve the high ranking in Tripadvisor and every positive comment should be confirmed. Check was warm friendly and efficient, room nice and clean, modern and although not large more than correct. Bathroom of good design and amenities fine.
At check in we were immediatly offered city map and tube informations and any other turistic possible suggestion.
We got a bottle of wine as special present and a real personal letter from owners/managers to great for our honeymoon stay. We extremely appreciated it.
Because of the location in a residential area and the efficient public transport and parking facility in Barcellona it ends up that Villa Emma can be preferable than a "central" location as Barcellona is not a safe city for tourists.
Breakfast come to our room, quickly served and reasonably priced (14 Euro, eventually billed 13...so nice) considering the bad habit to overcharge for breakfast that is in fashion nowadays..
Free wifi in the room, flat screen tv....
Roof top terrace around mdnight was fresh, a bemol for the service who did not come to our table despite I indicated it but they were busy and stayed short. I dont feel like we really have to complain.
Villa Emma is between Rambla and Montjuic/Barcellona fair so it can be convenient both for leisure and for business customers.
About Zinc Restaurant, on the ground floor, I shall write a separate review.

Overall an adress to keep in mind

Room Tip: Probably the higher the floor the quieter the room

Villa Emilia is located in a more residential area than many of the other hotels, which makes for a quiet and safe location. The reception, bar and restaurant are all very attractively decorated and so are the rooms We just had a standard double, but it was more than adequate. The bathroom was plenty big enough, with a large walk-in shower and toiletries from Rituals.
There is breakfast available, but apart from boiled eggs, it's continental only. There is a great terrace bar on the seventh floor which is open from 08:00 to 24:00 daily.
We definitely plan to go back to Villa Emilia.

A very beautifully designed hotel. The clean and comfortable beds - though be advised the twin beds are really just like one king bed. The bathrooms are very modern and nice. The staff are really helpful. Excellent rooftop terrace to have a glass of wine in the evening. The location is nice, in a more quite neighborhood but, within walking distance to "downtown". Also a metro station is just steps away and very easy to use.
