It all depends on what you expect in a hotel and what amenities you consider necessary. No TV in the room, no phone, no coffee maker, no mini-bar, no safe. No toiletries besides a postage stamp-sized bar of soap. (bring your own)...but the beds were comfortable, the bathroom modern, the paint new, and it was very clean. The cranky old man of renown was at the desk when we arrived, but so what. Everyone else was very friendly and helpful. There are several steps up from the entry to the lift and the hotel is on a higher floor of an old building, The location is EXCELLENT: Walk just a few blocks to the old city & Picasso museum, Cuitadela park is across the side street, Metro station nearby, taxi stand across the street at Estacio Franca train station, Grocery stores and restaurants in same building and along the street. Hop on/off tour bus stop 2 blocks away. Ask for a rear room as the street outside is very busy & noisy with cars, buses and motorcycles. It was the smallest hotel room I've ever seen, we just laughed when we saw it. Had to climb over our luggage to get to the beds. A bit noisy in the hallway. Wi-Fi and TV in the lounge, charged my cell phone on their computer since I didn't have a European plug.
