Beautiful property, spacious rooms, great wifi. Staff are very professional and go out of their way to help make your visit terrific. Excellent location - virtually all high-interest locations from Catedral and Sagrada Familia to La Pedrera and outstanding restaurants are within easy walking distance. Although steps from Las Ramblas, rooms are quiet and very comfortable. Would highly recommend and would stay there again.

We stayed here for a post cruise stay, mainly driven by the location being central to Las Ramblas and a comfortable neighborhood. In my opinion this is a "botique" hotel, which I have never been that keen on, but we were very pleasantly surprised, and the continental atmosphere and modern rooms won us over. The pricing is pretty stiff, however when comparing it the other choices in the area, they almost seem a bargain. I would stay here again, and we enjoyed the proximity to the shops, restaurants and strolling the Ramblas.

This is a great hotel for a special break. It is not cheap, but it is special. We had a deluxe room with a terrace - great for mornings and evenings. La Rambla is just on the doorstep. The pool and spa (sauna, steam room and jacuzzi jets in pool) great for relaxing after a day of site-seeing. Food is good but a bit pricey - the tapas at the bar on the rooftop is probably best value, and has a great view over the roof tops of the city. Staff were very helpful and friendly, and the hotel was immaculately clean. Breakfast is expensive (24 euros per person), but there is a great little bar (Luzia) just next door that does fab breakfasts for half the price. The rooms have great and quiet air conditioning, and our room was wonderfully quiet at night.

Room Tip: If you want a treat, go for a room with a terrace.

This hotel is beautiful and conveniently located right on La Ramblas in the center of everything. The staff was excellent and we had a great stay. Loved the rooms, the beds were comfortable, and room was quiet. You can't go wrong with a stay at this hotel. loved it.

Despite arriving on an early flight from New York, Hotel 1898 pre-checked us in, stored our bags and then phoned us just before lunch to say one of our two rooms could now be accessed. We booked the 'superior' rooms - one double and one with two twins. While not 'large' they were quite comfortable & spacious for a city hotel - with enough room for plenty of storage, a desk, a comfy chair, and a bathroom with full bathtub... We did not face directly onto La Rambla (the hotel is located just north of La Boqueria and just south of Plaza Catalunya on La Rambla - a great location), you do get street noise if you leave the windows open ... but with good Air Conditioning, we slept well with good linens and bedding. We did not use the breakfast package - which I would not recommend as there are numerous breakfast spots surrounding the hotel - including one wonderful cafe just outside the main entrance and far more realistically priced!

The hotel has a large lobby with complimentary bottled water and newspapers. Good wifi throughout. The basement gym, spa and pool are well worth a visit. The pool feels as if you are in a cavern - most fun. There are sauna and steam rooms. All included.

The rooftop pool, bar and restaurant are phenomenal - with exceptional city views, great drinks and food. Hotel guests can reserve seating areas and should do this on clear pretty evenings as unlike other rooftop bars it is not closed to the public at all.

The hotel arranged a large taxi for us for departure at our requested time which was convenient.

In talking with some guests, the lower floors (3rd and below) may feel the vibration of the metro underneath. This may also be impacted by what side of the hotel you are on. We were on the 4th floor and felt no vibration whatsoever.

We also booked the Barcelona Photography tour, promoted on the hotel's website - it was excellent.

Room Tip: Floor 4 or above
