“Great hotel in a good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 April 2012

We recently stayed at Hotel Constanza and it was a great trip. The hotel staff was friendly and check in was quick and easy. The location is the best feature of this hotel. My husband and I were able to walk to most of the things that we wanted to see. Las Ramblas is about a 10 minute walk. You can also get to the Picasso Museum, Gothic Area and more. We loved Barcelona because the people were friendly and many spoke English. The hotel staff also spoke English. I would have given the hotel a perfect rating but the construction next door is ongoing and it will be going on for awhile. The noise started around 8am but it was not a problem for us because we are early risers. There are many restaurants and cafes nearby. We did not do the hotel breakfast. We did not enjoy our meal at Tapas 24 or Tapa Tapas, but we found many places that were excellent but you have to look at prices and menus before you go inside. There is also an excellent Irish pub nearby. I believe it was called George Payne. Prices and food were delicious.

Room Tip: We requested a quiet room with balcony on a higher floor.

Hi

This hotel is one of best my family and I have stayed in... and we were very sad to leave! After reading various reviews on trip advisor it was very difficult to find the perfect hotel and i think we were very lucky to choose Hotel Constanza.

Location:
The Hotel is very central with about 5 min walk to nearest metro line about a 10-15min to the top of the La Rambla Street. The street is a tree lined street and is quite a wide road so even if you have a front facing baloncy room you have a nice view of the quiet street.
Taxi cost about 30-35 Euros from Airport (as there was four of us with two large suitcases it was the easiest way to reach the hotel.

There was no noise whatsover from the street or from the buliding work next door. Based on other reviews we booked the street view as it was better than the back and i agree the view from balcony was so pretty!

Room:
We booked one suite twin beds and one std double bed room. Both rooms on Floor 4 front facing the street.

The rooms were exceptionally clean and modern (i am very fussy on rooms being clean and tidy) and it could not have been more clean!! would give a big 10/10 for this.

Both rooms were very spacious. The suite had an added space for a sofa and it was really nice to have the extra space. However the std room was also adequate and was a good size too.

Now the showers, all i can say is WOW! one of the best bathrooms i have ever seen in a hotel. It was so CLEAN, so spacious, just amazing!! Both rooms had these massive rain showers which were just amazing. As we all like showers not baths we were very pleased not to have a bath with a shower attachment but instead a proper shower... it was very luxury and high end!

No tea making facilities in room - so if you are like us and like to have tea at weird hours in the day then you would need to take your own! there is a fridge to put your drinks.

Breakfast:
If you dont want the hassle of looking for a place to have breakfast in the morning then best to have it at the hotel. I dont think it was very expensive (about 10 Euros per person for the whole stay) and it had everything you would need. The staff in the morning were very helpful and would fill up any items which looked a little low and also heated up any eggs or meat that had gone a little cold.

The following was always there in the morning: Bread, Jam, Margarine, Cake, Croissants, Cheese, Various Meats, Egg (boiled and scrambled), Fruit, Yogurt, Tea/Coffee, Juices. Not really sure what else you would need!!

Staff:
Fantastic service on reception and in the breakfast room. Cleaners were also very friendly and always smiling and they did a fantastic job cleaning the rooms each day.

Facilities:
Two computers available in reception for internet and printing was also available. Very useful to have.

TV in reception which has a DVD player but no english channels available! In the room there were no english channels and this was the only issue we had. We did speak to reception who tried to reset the TV but it did not work.

Conclusion:

Overall, a fantastic hotel to stay in... would def go back and stay here if i went to barcelona again. Would really recommmend if you dont want to be central with all the noise. It is very easy walk to the metro, to the airport bus and to the main restaurants and shops! Also the most important thing it was clean, tidy with all the mod cons and was very luxury hotel even though its not 5 star.

Thanks to all of the Hotel Constanza Staff! :)

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room with views of the street. Also if you are shower lover ask for a room with...

We had a very pleasant stay at Constanza. Lovely rooms, and we had a balcony looking out on to the street. Staff had good recommendations of places for tapas.

One negative point is that you could hear noises from other rooms, for example when other people are showering you could feel the vibrations of the water going through pipes.

Location is quite good, not bang in the middle of the old town but it's a short walk.

This is a great hotel. The staff are incredibly helpful, it is easy walking distance to the centre of the old city and less than 10 minutes walk to Catalunya Square. The rooms are great. It is really quiet. We stayed 6 nights and with a special deal from Booking.com it made it a great buy. The only downside is that there is a lack of good food places handy but a 15 minute walk to the waterfront area solves that. Best pick Sensi restaurant. Amazing meal but book - it is incredibly popular.

Room Tip: We always ask for a quiet room - works well

Stayed at Constanza for the Grand Prix and were able to enjoy not only the event but also Barcelona from this wonderful location. The rooms themselves are absolutely beautiful with marvellous facilities including brilliant waterfall showers! The terrace balcony was very small, but just this little space and the option to open the windows were very welcome. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful and the breakfast choices were amazing!!
Would definitely stay here again without hesitation and would recommend to anyone travelling to Barcelona without hesitation!
