“Terry's 7th Stag Weekend on the trot”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 February 2012

This is my 4th year at this hotel. Excellent Location with the Ramblers and Harbour 10min walk. Metro Outside Hotel Doors. local bars all around hotel to finish night off, All the bars do various types of food.
The only down side are the pick pockets, They hang around on the corner next to the Metro, NEVER engage in any conversation with anyone that comes up to you asking questions or the will dip your pockets or snatch at your jewellery. Also keep your wallet very safe and your hand bag across your chest. If you are vigilant then you will have a fantastic time in Barcelona

Stayed here with 5 friends in late February as part of a long weekend. Pleasantly surprised with it's very central location (next door to Paral·lel metro station and less than 5 minutes walk from Las Ramblas). I would strongly recommend staying here and would definitely come back should i revisit Barcelona. It's as central as you can get and within easy walking distance to the beach and the main sights and it's only a 15-minute train straight to the Nou Camp.

The staff were a great help throughout our stay and were very willing to try and help with our requests. The room itself was reasonably big and clean, the bathroom included a hairdryer, bidet, shower/bath combo and a variety of things you may have forgotten including a shaving kit, toothbrush etc.

The two twin beds were worryingly close together when we first arrived but thankfully could be easily pulled apart. The TV had many multi-language options from around Europe including Rai 1-3 Italian stations, Canal from France and the English channels included Fox, Eurosport and BBC World (might seem trivial but it's always nice after a long day walking in the hills to be able to switch on something you can understand!)

The only negative about the room would be that the ones we had (301, 303 and 323) all had a window which looked into a central courtyard which had no natural light so we have no idea what the weather was like at all, which meant we had to get a lift up to the 10th floor to go outside to the roof terrace to decide on our attire.

The roof terrace is fantastic and I can imagine when it's hotter outside the pool (unheated, 1m depth) will be mobbed. The views from all sides look right across Barcelona over the city with the mountains and sea in distance. Great photo opportunity. There's also a room with a few weights, treadmills and bikes which could be classed as a gym!

One other note, and this isn't anything wrong with the hotel but if you do stay there a note about the local area - the reputation as a pickpocket haven is not undeserving. In the Metro station next to the hotel, a woman came right behind me as I put my ticket in and put hers in too which locked up my ticket and stopped me from getting through. This allowed her to get close and I physically felt her hand in my pocket. She acted innocent enough and looked like a local and tried to help me but luckilly I pushed her arm away. It was incredibly awkward and I'd advise everyone to not put anything in outside pockets unless you'd be able to feel everything going on in them!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a window that at least faces the outside as ours didn't!

We stayed here late January, it was a surprise birthday weekend for my partner. I booked through Easyjet so I got the hotel at a discounted price but I had problems when I paid through the hotel's online booking system. This was the first time I had encountered this problem and I received an email from the hotel asking me to email them my credit card details - I thought this was very unprofessional not to mention a security risk, this was followed by an array of quite cheeky, bordering on rude, responses from Pablo Perez. It was too late to book anywhere so I had to use my business credit card account to pay the hotel. Nevertheless, on arrival at one in the morning we were pleasantly greeted by the hotel staff who warned us about the pickpockets in Las Ramblas. The Hotel itself is centrally located and handy to walk to most tourist attractions and is next to a metro/underground station. The room was clean and tidy with modern furnishings, however we were woken up at 7am on the Saturday morning by builders on the roof of an adjacent building. I suppose this is to be expected in the center of a large city and it did prompt us to have an early breakfast which was a buffet and not too bad. So in summary, good location, nice room, pleasant staff, do not pay full price as this hotel always seems to have offers on, and avoid paying by credit card!

We travel extensively and found this hotel to be especially lovely. In a perfect spot; a 5 minute walk to Las Ramblas and Port Vell, with the Metro literally outside the door. The hotel is small and beautifully up to date, extremely well maintained and clean. We requested a room in the quieter rear of the hotel, and were delighted with it---it was spacious by European standards, quiet, and had a lovely terrace (no view). The bathroom was quite large with modern fixtures--we loved the powerful showerhead and oversized tub, and towel warmers. Another huge advantage is the complimentary in room internet access (no surcharge), which seems to be a rarity in most hotels. The multilingual staff was friendly and accommodating, and always willing to answer our questions regarding local restaurants and points of interest, even offering the use of an umbrella when needed. The breakfast buffet was a delight--a smorgasbord of hot and cold selections, with the restaurant's hours of operation allowing us to sleep in most mornings. As the hotel is in a residential area, there are many local restaurants which come highly recommended by the hotel staff. We tried several, and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.
We have already recommended this hotel to several friends who have Barcelona on their agenda, and we will certainly return.

Room Tip: Hotel is on a busy avenue, so request a room towards the rear, and possibly on a higher floor, where...

We stayed here for a business trip and to explore the city.

This hotel is in a great location for using "el Metro" to get around the city. It is a nice central location to see most of what people come to see in Barcelona. It is close to "La Rambla", where you will find lots of wonderful restaurants.

The front desk people are always very helpful for directions or recommendations. There is a sign at the front desk warning about pick pocketers. READ IT. It is in English, and it will help you avoid losing money or vital documents. Whatever you do, don't walk around town with lots of cash or with your travel documents (passport, etc.).

Many people complain about the noise from Paral-lel (the street in front of the hotel). If you are a light sleeper, you should request an inside room, not one facing the street. The inside rooms are quiet, but they don't get much light from outside as the windows face a courtyard. You shouldn't be spending much time in your room anyway, so don't worry about it. We stayed here the night of Carnaval, and we couldn't hear anything from the street.

Overall this was a great hotel. I would stay here again in a second. One tip though: If you use hand soap to wash your body in the shower, ask for a couple "extra" bars when you check in. They only provide one by default, and they are very small. They don't charge for extras, so just ask when you check in.

As I said before, beware of pick pockets. Leave your cash, travel documents, and valuables in the safe. Don't become a victim.

Room Tip: If you are a light sleeper, request a room on the inside. If you call or email after you book, they...
