NH Barcelona Les Corts

We stayed in this hotel for three nights in February 2016. The staff were very friendly and helpful while speaking fluent English (great when your Spanish is very limited!).

Our room was basic but spacious, however the shower room was tiny!! There was no room to manouver when showering and we had to sit sideways on the loo as there was no room for our knees!! (sorry if too much info!!) The hotel was spotless, the breakfast buffet was nice and you could help yourself to as much as you wanted.

The bed was very comfy but unfortunately I did not sleep well due to the street noise. I would definitely recommend earplugs!

The wifi was awful, I think there was an option to pay for a higher speed but I didn't look into that.

The hotel itself was about a 5 minute walk from the L'illa Diagonal shopping centre - fantastic for those who like to shop :-) and a just under a 10 minute walk from the Les Corts Metro stop.

While visiting Barcelona we had a good walk along the Diagonal to a lovely little park - Park de Pedralbes. The statues could do with a little bit of love and attention but was a nice relaxing escape from the hustle and bustle of the road. From there we went on to visit Camp Nou - I'm not a football fan but it was impressive!

Tip - It's not really worth getting a taxi to the hotel if you are travelling light as it will cost you between 30-40 Euros. If you arrive in Terminal 2B at the airport there is a walkway over the road to the train station. Catch the train to Sants Estacio (I can't say how much this costs as the day we arrived the train was cancelled so we had a free coach journey instead) and then from there you can either take the Metro to Les Corts or walk. We thought it was just as quick to walk as it was to take the metro. Taking the metro involved walking deep underground for what seemed like miles and then walking just under 10 minutes to the hotel at the other end.

Room Tip: I think all rooms would suffer from road noise - take earplugs!!

As a frequent business traveller and regular user of NH hotels, I was shocked at the appalling standard of Les Corts. I was obliged to stay as I arrived near midnight and needed to sleep before an important meeting the next day - otherwise I would have moved to another hotel.
My room had wallpaper peeling off the wall, electrical cables hanging loose and silverfish insects running on the bathroom floor!
My complaints were dismissed by reception staff which was the final straw.
What a truly terrible advertisement for the NH brand.

Location is excellent - close to the diagonal, major shopping centres, restaurants and all modes of transport etc. staff very helpful. Well fitted, contemporary, very clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Happily stored our luggage and assisted in locating services like laundry, phone company etc.

I stayed here in May for the Bruce Springsteen concert.

Positives:
It was clean, modern, and good value for money.
We had free wifi, toiletries, and a cleaned room every day.
Could purchase a selection of snacks and drinks from the mini bar and fridge downstairs.
Great location - 10 minutes from Camp Nou. Lots of bars and cafes and restaurants nearby. Taxis and buses running frequently on the roads.
Air con!

Negatives:
Balcony didn't feel safe.
Balcony door also did not feel adequately secure.
No bar.
Snacks were pricey.

Room Tip: Stay on a lower floor if you have vertigo. The balcony on 7th floor, where we stayed, felt really un...
