“We loved Casa de Marcelo”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 March 2012

We spent five nights in the newly renovated Casa de Marcelo an had a fabulous time. The location is perfect, the rooms clean and comfortable, the breakfast nice but most significantly Marcelo and his colleague Olivier were so helpful! From changing plane tickets to helping us plan our day to sharing a story over breakfast they just made the holiday extra special. We highly recommend them.

Marcelo and Olivier did a great job of welcoming their guests into their lovely bed and breakfast. They were also very helpful in making arrangments for sightseeing. The rooms were nice and comfortable. The place is near the harbor and convenient to many sight around Barcelona. I would highly recommend it if you are seeking something different from a standard hotel experience.

This place is lovely! An eighteenth century building that is now apartments and one of those happens to be Casa de Marcelo. The interior decor is really nice. Marcelo has a keen eye for what works mixing old and contemporary to good effect. We stayed in Room 4. The entire place was spotlessly clean. Breakfast is a simple affair served in a really nice dining room. Coffee, juices, bread/toast, jams, pastries and fresh fruit. You have free run of the kitchen if you want to cater for yourself but given the number of excellent restaurants and bars nearby its not likely. There if you want it though.
There is wifi throughout and we never had any difficulty going online. Strongest signal is in the dining room where you have breakfast as you are right next to the router. Forgot to bring a laptop/travelling lite? No worries. They provide laptops (okay, not the very latest spec but sufficient to get you online to check emails or surf the net) FOC.
Metro stations (Jaume I & Barcenoleta) are less than five minutes walk and you are just around the corner from the main square in El Born. Cal Pep is across the street (great tapas, but you will have to queue) and the local bars have specials (eg. Mojitos 4 Euros).
The Picasso Museum is a short walk from your front door. As is the beach. The finest burgers I've ever tasted are available from Kiosko just around the corner as well.
Casa de Marcelo is awesome.
Please don't book for late July or early September though as we are coming back to Barcelona and want to stay here. Thanks.

We stayed five nights in early November 2011 and based ourselves here to explore Barcelona. It was easy to get here by train from the airport, and to get around by public transport as well.
The room was very clean and comfortable, cosy but not small. The bathrooms, though shared, were always in impeccable condition and we never really crossed paths with anyone (despite a "full house") in terms of bathroom usage.
Breakfasts were simple but good - fresh bread/toast with jams and plenty of fruit, tea/coffee, served in a room which also was a guest sitting area, including a balcony overlooking the street. Wifi was also provided. Decor was excellent, with gorgeous fresh flowers on display.
The hosts, Marcelo and his team, were ever friendly and helpful, providing outstanding dining recommendations and other advice around exploring the city.
We would stay here again and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I been to the Barcelona two weeks back and stayed at this place. The place is charming and cozy. The location is near the metro and at the centre of many eateries, including the famous tapas place - Cal Pep. Rooms are made everyday.

I would also like to mention that the wifi connection is poor and hindered my research on Barcelona. Basic needs like fresh water are not provided and have to be paid. Not s good thing if you woke up in the middle of the night and feeling thirsty.

Overall I would say that this place is worth the consideration if you are visiting Barcelona.
