I was a Tapas virgin until the other night.
Sat at the counter and the waitress explained how it worked. You take cold tapas from the counter, or order hot tapas from the menu. When you are finished. they count up the toothpicks and away you go.
Excellent choice of cold to start. I had spicy Spanish sausage, followed by a hot selection ranging from mini burgers, to black pudding and red pepper
The staff also offer a selection of hot and cold selections from the kitchen to tempt you.
17 toothpicks later, 2 beers, 2 galsses of red, and a cider, we left very happy.
Very reasonable too. £30

We went for dinner and arrived (with a reservation) at 8:15pm. As some people have said, it is a bit hard to find because the street numbers on Casanova start at a central point and go out in two directions, such that there are two separate blocks in which you'd expect to find 157 Casanova. The restaurant is actually on Casanova between Carrer de Paris and Carrer de Corsega. It's very close to the Hospital Clinic metro stop.

Keep in mind that you cannot order hot tapas off the menu once the waiters start passing hot tapas on trays. So, we ordered things other reviewers recommended and were not disappointed. In particular, the cod with garlic cream was fantastic as was the tart with baby eels. Other favorites included cold tapas (there's one that looks like mashed potatoes on a piece of bread but it's actually some sort of blue cheese with a fig and walnut on top -- the best tapas of the evening). Cold crab salad on a piece of bread dipped in butter was also delectable. FYI -- they have white sangria and cava sangria for those who are red wine intolerant. The price couldn't be beat. We felt like we'd robbed the place!

Me and three friends dined here on a Monday evening. We arrived at around 9pm and the bar wasn't too busy but by 9.30 was quite packed. We did not have a table reservation but were happy to sit at the bar where the tapas is located. It is quite a social setting as people need to reach over you to get to the pintxos. At first we were a like bit wary of this but after a few minutes it is fun as you talk to other people and find out what everyone is eating. It's also a mixture of locals and tourists.

Our waiter was excellent and took the time to explain what each of the pintxos were on the hot and cold menus despite us speaking Spanish. We drank the house wine, which wasn't the best we had whilst in Barcelona, but we never bothered to consult the wine list to even see what we were drinking. Probably a rookie error on our part.

The food was incredible. All the hot and cold pintxos. Hard to pick a favourite but loved everything with large, super fresh anchovies on them. We also ordered a dessert each. Incredible. I am not sure how we managed to finish them. The brownie and hazelnut praline come highly recommended but I could have easily picked one of the dozen or so other options on the menu gladly!

I am heading back to Barcelona in July and this will be my first stop. If you like pintxos (and you should) there is just too many delicious things to pick from for such a reasonable price!

We enjoyed being able to pick out the tapas from the showcase, and how our bill was calculated based on the number of toothpicks on our plates! The food was great, and judging from the number of locals who were streaming in, authentic. Another must-try in Barcelona!

We went our first night in Barcelona and it was so good we declined the closer Michelin Starred seafood restaurant and went back again. It was full of spaniards too, so asays it all. Saturday night neeeds a reservation - we went early so we got a table as long as we were finished by 9.30 p.m. Tried the musician dessert as recommended on here - very good.
