Beautiful hotel. Good location

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Sept 2019via mobile
When we first arrived it was hard to find the hotel because if faces plaza de la Universidad but we called and a lady from the front desk came out and met us by the road and showed us the parking garage. You have to have a small car to park in the garage. The hotel is beautiful, you can tell it's been remodeled but they've still left alot of the charm. The staff is very friendly and helpful. So why did I give it 4 stars instead of 5? Because of the noise at night, our room faced the cathedral and there is an alley between the hotel and cathedral so everything echos off the walls. Our last night was the worst because people were partying all night right outside our room. Then at 4am some kids starting yelling at the top of their lungs. I realize this is not the hotels fault so I would suggest you ask for a room that doesn't face the cathedral. Really sad because we love the city and the hotel.

Sorry for the inconvenience during your stay. Unfortunately, some street noises despite being soundproofed by the hotel produced by unsociable people can be heard.

This hotel is located in the very heart of the city. Just 30 seconds walk to the main entrance to the Cathedral. Also Plaza Mayor is not more than 5 minutes walking distance. As this is pedestrian zone, you can’t hear car traffic, but as around there are few restaurants and cafes with open gardens, unfortunately sometimes it might be quite noisy.
Good, discrete service, very nice breakfast buffet. The challenge is a parking ! As you must enter to very narrow elevator with your car and go down to the cellar. It is even more tricky to get back to the elevator when you want to go away, as you can access the entrance in a straight line, but via slight curve. Enjoy ! But probably to avoid high stress level, this is better to park car in nearby public parkings

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at El Coloquio. We had a very nice room with a view of the Plaza de la Universidad and the side of the Catedral. The hotel is in a beatiful old building that has been elegantly renovated. It’s perfectly situated in terms of sight seeing: Cathedral, Plaza Mayor, Santa Cruz Palace (Univ. of Valladollid ceremonial building), Cabaleria, and more.
(The Tapas at Los Zagales de Abadia off Plaza Mayor are some of the best in all of Spain.)
The breakfast was outstanding - (staff must have paid attention to previous reviews) excellent cold meats, cheese and salmon, fresh pastries and cakes, fruits, eggs (one can order any style), bacon, sausages, etc; fresh juices and more.
Parking in this hotel requires some skill. (I would definitely recommend dropping someone in your party by the curbside and asking the front desk for help.) The hotel’s garage is situated in the back requiring turning (right) on the street just past the hotel (with a no enter sign). To enter the garage one must use the phone outside to call the hotel. Once the doors open one drives the car into an elevator, and down the car goes! Not too hard the second time, but complicated and not intuitive the first time. Getting back on the elevator to leave the hotel will require a little maneuvering.
Aside from the parking acrobatics we loved the hotel. The staff could not have been nicer!
Gracias

Nice hotel in the downtown. Good bedrooms, clean, great service and you can park there which is difficult due to the emplacement. It is very close to the main square where you can find dozens of great restaurants.

A nice hotel in the centre of town. Good service, very helpful staff, rooms clean and modern. Secure underground parking at reasonable rates. Nice little cafe downstairs. Not much English spoken in the area so phrase book is a must!

Stopped here on our way from the UK to Portugal. Beautiful building close to restaurants. You can pay a little extra 15€ to park in their underground car park. Excellent room. No restaurant but a good bar. Friendly staff
