2 couples 2 rooms, filled our request for side by side rooms; helped us with translations to English, answered all our questioned with pleasure; lovely lobby.
We needed a hotel within walking distance of the Historic centre with parking.

Would definitely recommend this hotel!

I find this hotel very welcoming, this was my 2nd visit. A very handy stop off en-route to The Algarve, or vice-versa. I have not paid more than 50 euros, and think that is very reasonable considering some of the prices I've had to fork out for in France in August. A very handy hotel for the remarkable city of Salamanca. Even though I travelled alone, I had better things to do than counting light bulbs in the dining room. I think breakfast is good value at 8.50e, and if you fill up you don't need anything else till evening time. Cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurts, croissants, pain de chocolate, toast,, jams, fresh fruit juices, a cooked selection of bacon, sausages, scrambled egg, and Spanish omelette. Though some people try, there is not a lot you can complain about on this spread, there are even knives and forks to stop one getting sticky fingers having to deal with the fruit !

The hotel is only a ten minute walk from the city centre across the Puente Romano. The staff in the reception area at check in on Friday afternoon and Tuesday morning were very helpful and friendly. the room was large and the cleaning was of a very good standard. Good bath and shower with plentiful supply of hot water at all times. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room would be welcomed.

We'll start with the positives.....situated in a quiet area, across from the bustle and climb in to Salamanca centre. Our room had a small balcony and a side view of the city's spires. The lobby and the reception welcome were both very pleasant and secure parking beneath the hotel, was a bonus. Rosa, the only member of staff in the breakfast room, worked hard to replenish supplies, as well as re-lay tables at busy periods; and did so with good humour. Our room was tastefully furnished, the bed was comfortable and hot water was plentiful at all times of the day.
However.....as much as we would like to praise the cleaning/housekeeping staff, since they seemed to be the ones who rectified our initial problems, the standard of the cleaning was poor. Neither the carpet nor the bathroom floor was swept or vacuumed during our 3 nights' stay and the bathroom corners and crevices held dust which was more than a few days old. The toilet seat hinges were worn and wobbly and the bathroom door didn't close properly. If we opened the main door or the window, the draught opened the bathroom door, as well! Although we'd never ask for a change of sheets for such a short stay, we did notice that the tear at the side of our bottom sheet stayed with us throughout.
We realise that mid-September might be considered 'end-of-season', but that's no excuse for allowing things to look as if it is. The pool and terrace area is probably very pleasant at the height of the season, but the pool needed topping up; the cushions should have been taken inside every single night; several floor tiles could have been made more secure; and the ashtrays emptied more than once in three days!
Breakfast was rather expensive, at E8.50, for those of us who only eat fruit and yoghurt, in the morning....and for that, we don't expect to have to peel and chop the fruit ourselves (sticky start to the meal)..or indeed sort through the pieces available to see what's ripe or otherwise.
We admit we're fussy, but once we're disappointed with one aspect, we start to notice everything that falls short of 4* star quality.....no less than 11 light bulbs out, in the breakfast room chandeliers....both mirrors in the two lifts, broken....no fire regulations displayed in the bedroom....as examples. This hotel may well have earned its stars, at one point, but sadly, that is no longer the case.

We stayed for two nights during the festival. The hotel was quiet and located in close vicinity to the main area.
The room was spacious with comfortable beds. The bathroom also spacious and very clean.
Breakfast was typical Spanish hotel but was adequate.
Secure parking was a bonus.
