I was surprised that the Mariano himself helped us when we entered the shop. He is a very nice person and he did a great job explaining the different wares in the shop. He also showed us the different rooms where they make the swords along with explaining how it is done. We decided to get some kitchen knives and he posed for some pictures with us. Was a very nice and interesting visit. With so many of the stores being so touristy, it is nice to find a real artisan shop in Toledo.

We had a great time and enjoyed our visit at this shop. We had read about his knives and swords and was really looking forward to being able to use the kitchen knife - we do lots of cooking. We took the train to Toledo from Madrid- was told no problem getting the kitchen knife on the train- but there was. Please be aware, you cannot get a kitchen knife on the train- they said it was not properly wrapped- needed to be in a box. I should have used my common sense that this would not have gotten through security. Wasted money and very disappointed.

We also enjoy with your visit, MjCKF. You wrote us quickly telling about your problema and we have been in contact all this time. You know we went to the train station in that moment because we also didn´t undestand what could happen: the rules are clear and displayed on signs, and they are the same that the last years (many people who wrote here could travel by train to Madrid, that´s the information we give to our customs)
We were talking with the security of the train and we explained them again how we prepared them, and they said that it´s ok. You probably suffered the excess of a security guard. We have asked to investigate what exactly happened and we are waiting for a response. Meanwhile, we are still in contact and we are sure that we will solve your problem and you will be able to enjoy cooking with your special knife. Thanks again

This was awesome, and the owner was such a nice gentleman. This store sells swords made right there at his location with his own local stamp (he also sells swords, and other local souvenirs that are produced on a larger scale elsewhere). He also allowed my wife, children, and I to view the swords actual being made. This was an awesome once in a lifetime experience. I wish I had seen this place before purchasing a more mass produced sword.

My husband loves collecting medieval looking swords and knives so visiting Mariano's shop was a no-brainer for us. The shop has rather peculiar hours for us Canadians :) so we had to go there a few times and be disappointed to find it closed until luck struck and on our last day of visit and literally on the last hour, the great master appeared from the distance, walking slowly but happily to his shop. Mr. Zamorano is a rather small man with a big heart, great smile and larger than life personality. The shop has two sections, a tiny entrance where some of his works are on display, more like the retail section and then there is his workshop at the back which he was generous enough to give us a tour and explain how he did his most magical work. We spent close to an hour with him and Mr. Zamorano was incredibly kind and gracious to share his time and knowledge with us. He has a nice collection of pieces, small and big at various price point and do not ask or push for much discount as he firmly believes that he is offering a piece of art at a reasonable price and I do agree with him. Once you learn about the hours of work that goes into each piece, you grow a deeper appreciation of an art that might not be around much longer. Give him a visit if you have time.

We visited on a Sunday so were unable to tour the factory. But we were helped by Mr. Zamorano and he was very nice and accommodating as we chose kitchen knives for ourselves and as Christmas gifts. I have used mine several times and they are excellent knives! I wish I’d bought more.

Thanks, Eileen71. On weekends we don´t work in production, but you can visit the workshop and, probably, we could explain the production line. In Winter we usually close on Sunday.

Enjoy your knives!!
