We stayed at Hotel Sol in Toledo in June 2010. It was a last minute decision to go to Toledo and it was one of the only hotels with available rooms, so I didn't have very high expectations. Hotel Sol ended up exceeding all my expectations - it was a cute little hotel just down the hill from Plaza Zodocover, and also a very short walk to the river. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were very helpful and friendly (and they all spoke excellent English). It was a cheap and easy taxi ride to and from the train station, and I would definitely recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Simple, basic amenities with a pleasant and helpful staff. This is a no-frills hotel that is much like a converted hostel. Don't expect plush amenities, but realize that there's so much to do in Toledo that the room doesn't matter that much. I stayed at the Hotel Cardinal a few years back, and found that the Hotel Sol was in a better location (and I felt better about not wasting so much money!). Great location for walking the city, and just down the hill from the Puerto del Sol. 5 minutes from Train station by cab. 5 minute walk to Plaza Zocodover. Great sunset spot up the hill where the escalators end. Cathedral is worth the cost -- amazing inside! Food is less than desirable in Toledo, so keep your expectations low.

We booked the hostal sold but stayed at the hotel. It was new, clean, and very nice. Only problem was they have no elevator so be prepared to take your luggage up a flight of stairs. The room is conveniently located near Plaza Zocodover and reception is very friendly. Would reccomend.

I adored our room which had a 'monestary' feel. The bathroom and the room were a good size. The staff were helpful and friendly and supplied us with a map and marked the sightseeing places. There was breakfast available for a small charge. If we were going to be late arriving the hotel was happy to keep the reception open.

The Hotel Sol has a hostal across the street from it which costs less and which I used. The room was very clean, the bathroom was fine and there was no noise. The bed was fine. Thus, I rated it a four. It did not have a security box but the place looked save. Though there is no staff on this side of the road, your room entry card acts as a key to enter the public door. The room doors are strong with a good modern card access key system and the place is modern. They have a breakfast in their hotel which I did not try. It is a little down the hill from the main Toledo square ( a 6 minute walk ). I had a room facing away from the hill. You may hear traffic if you take a room facing uphill as there is a main road there. However, Toledo is a quiet town at night as it is mainly a day trip visit for most. If you go be sure to try the cheese cake " mazaquin" - it is sooooo good. I happened to be there two days before Toledo celebrates Corpus Christi and I highly recommend going there for at least a night over during that time......it is very festive...they open private patios and have live concerts near the church. It gets crowded the day before and the day of Corpus Christ....so book early.
