“Lovely food market and Huge car boot and market Sundays”

Mercado Municipal Nuestra Senora de Africa
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed 18 May 2017

We like to visit the food market on a Sunday which is in a lovely building, and has well priced fruit, veg and flowers. There are also stalls selling jewellery and handcrafts. Small cafes sell Spanish tapas and drinks, and are very popular with the locals.

Outside the building, in the streets leading down to the sea there is a HUGE car boot sale and also stalls selling all sorts of things to locals and tourists. We love it, and always make sure we visit Santa Cruz on a Sunday.

Get there in the morning, as both food market and stallholders start packing up after about midday/1pm.

This is a nice market to browse for everything from flowers to fish or even rabbit meat. Their are many Butchers shops and a good produce and fruit shop with the fish market located on the lower level.

This market is colorful, bright and friendly. There are tons of stalls of flowers and local foods of all kinds. Definitely worth a look.

It's an ordinary market that can show you the gastronomy of the Canary Islands and a good plan for a Sunday because most of the food markets in Spain are closed on Sunday but it isn't,and it is surrounded by a flea market of second hand objects and clothes.

Nice local market with a wide range of spices, fruit, vegetables, fish, etc. The prices are higher than at a similar market in La Laguna but either way, it is still worth visiting. I liked the architecture of the building and the "statue" of a boat with fishermen just in front of it.
