Although it is a lovely location, with stunning views, a nearby beach, shops, cafés, restaurants, hairdressers, nail parlour, crafts market etc., some of the flat facilities need updating, such as the shower, and they need to check that all the appliances are working (I tried to use the iron and ruined a pair of trousers!). Also, a folder with basic information about the flat and the town would have been useful.
Having said that, both the owner and the administrators were very kind and helpful.
This is a lovely apartment. The location is superb! Everything just as shown in photos! The view from the windows was amazing and we could not get over the beautiful sunsets. It was so quiet! All we could hear at night was the sea crashing on the rocks. We did not hire a car but relied on public transport (very cheap) to see the island. As there were 3 of us it was just as cheap to hire a taxi (they are everywhere!) for around Las Palmas. The beach and sea front promenade were only a few minutes away by foot. We arrived while the Las Palmas Carnival season was on and there were plenty of things to see and do. On the final weekend we were treated to a brilliant fireworks display from the puntilla in front of the apartment. The main carnival events were held in Parque Santa Catalina, about 15 minutes stroll away.
The apartment itself was very clean and well equipped. We were welcomed with a bottle of wine and a bowl of fruit. There was a separate utility area complete with a washing machine and dryer. There are two bedrooms, one double and two singles and there is a cot for a baby. My only (very small) criticism was that there was a problem with ants, but that was only bad when I left some bread out. We quickly learned to make sure there was no food left out at any time, and then the problem was not so bad. We did speak to the owner and I'm sure this will be sorted.
We dined out a few times. All the bars and restaurants locally seemed very busy, especially the fish restaurant near the puntilla and La Oliva although we did not try these. For lovers of Italian food San Andrea was very good (about half an hour to walk along the front) but you would need to book in advance as it is tiny. Also Il Segreto di Pulchinella was very good (nearer) but not much choice of wine.
Lastly I just want to say how helpful and obliging the owner, Jan Miguel, was if we needed to contact him and also how efficient Flat Guest were in arranging taxis to and from the airport. They were worth every euro! Thank you. We had a wonderful holiday.
