“Worth the Visit”
Reviewed 11 April 2012

Whilst this Hotel may be at the far end of the promenade, don't be put off as there is an excellent bus service not far away that gets you to the centre of the city. If you are reasonably fit you cannot hep but enjoy a leisurely stroll along the magnificent promenade. The Hotel is well worthy of 4* rooms were spotless, breakfast buffet was excellent and plentiful, the staff were a real joy and so helpful and bar prices were reasonable. Would recommend paying the extra 15Euros a night for Sea View as this is truly fantastic and full on view, not a side view as some would offer. You wake up in the morning and there is a new Cruise Liner arriving in the harbour and the Sun is just rising in the distant East. What a lovely way to start the day and endure a very pleasant few days vacation

Room Tip: Rooms on Floor 4 and 5 are best, we were on 4th floor and it was excellent for uninterrupted view

The interior of the hotel we found to be very nice but the exterior was a little tired. The location was not great for Palma either as quite far out ( approx 40 min walk) the walk was pleasant though along the marina. Porto pi shopping centre is just down the road however with shops and restaurants. We went here in the evenings . There is also a superb Indian restaurant located just to the front of the hotel so location not all bad! Bus service very good in area . We got a taxi for 25 euros from the airport on arrival and caught a bus back for just 5 euros! Rooms in the hotel were very nice . Well maintained and modern, with flat screen tv . We upgraded to a sea view room which was nice but on reflection I don't think was worth the extra money as we were not in the room most of the time . Breakfast was good. Plenty of choice. Freshly prepared bacon eggs and omelettes made to order ( by a very grumpy lady!) I would be happy to stay at the hotel again but some may prefer somewhere more central to palma

Just now back after 3 nights B&B at the Catalonia Majorica Hotel staying on a B&B basis. Very good VFM we felt. Upgraded to a sea view on arrival, which personaly think it is well worth the moeny. The view is just fantastic. We were situated on the 1st floor - seemed to get the sun in the morning only. However I am assuming this depends on the time of year as you may well get the sun all day if you go later in the season.

Found the staff very friendly and helpfull

Rooms were quite basic but having said that the one we were in was spotessley clean. We booked a double room but seemed to get a twin with the beds pushed together - but that is the norm for Spain. Decent size wardrobe with sections to the side for storing other bits and bobs. Think a chest of drawers would not go a miss.

Bathroom - again spotless. Please note ladies you need to take some moisturiser. I thought you would get this as a 4* hotel but sadly not. Also thought you would get robes and slippers but again sadly not.

Breakfast was the normal fare - eggs cooked to order with bacon likewise. Buffet a fair selection of meats, cheeses and pastries. Selection of juices and drinkable filter coffee. All quite civilised. Only gripe - lovely choices of breads but sadly not covered so they did get a bit dry.

Bar - well what a dellight. Cheapest bottle of white wine was 6 euros. Yes 6 Euro's - never drank in a hotel with those prices. Happy days!!!!! On the day we left they had a delivery of Belgian Beers much to other halves delight.

Hotel was a little way away from the town / Cathedral but having said that we walked it in less than 30mins in glorious sunshind along the harbour. Also the hotel is set slightly on a hill so if you had issues with walking you maybe would find this hotel not for you. There is a small fanicular railway / lift on the sundeck which will take you down to the road, The number 3 bus stops right outside (this is the one you need to catch to go to the train station for Soller and all the posh shopping arears). Costs 1.50 euro pp bus fare. You can walk it to the train station - if you are feeling energetic. Takes around 45mins

Unfortunately the day we decided to go to Soller by train there were demonstations and the station was closed. However had a good walk around - plenty to do and see.

Just down the road from the hotel is a fabulous Care Four supermarket. Litre and half bottles of water 21cents.

TV - Although there was 30 odd channels only one in English (Sky News). We do like to watch TV when we are getting ready to go out.

Room Service - Sushi!!!! We came back one evening exhausted after all that walking and thought "oh yes room service here we come and a bottle of vino". All to chose from was sushi and a burger (there was something else but I can't remember what it was now)

Would I stay at this hotel again - Yes indeedy. In the time we were there we never heard anyone complaining. Everyone seemed as if they were enjoying themselves. We certainly didi.

Forgot to mention there is a fab sun deck with tables and chairs. The view from there is just stunning and a true sun trap.

Room Tip: I would go for a sea view. Well worth the money.

Did what it said on the tin. We went their as a group, but there was a very mixed clientelle. For what we paid it was very good value. The location is a little elevated and away from the centre of the city, but that gives it the advantage of the panoramic views of the marina and bay from the sun terrace, dining and outdoor pool area (and some of the rooms, but not ours, but this didn't phase us for the time we spent in the rooms). It's also a nice walk along the front (when you work out how to get down there) and a taxi is relatively inexpensive. It also means the location is quiet, whilst not been too far away from the action and sight seeing. The rooms were adequately furnished and clean. The breakfast was plentiful with a lot of choice (the freshly cooked eggs, omelette and bacon went down a treat after a good night out). Hotel staff pleasent enough. Overall, we'd definately recommend it for a short stay and go back if ever in Palma again. If going in summer would recommend checking that the rooms have aircon. We didn't think we need it at the end of March, but as the weather was hot it would have been useful as the room did get quite warm in the night with just the fan on, but we didn't allow this small detail to take anything away from a thouroughly enjoyable stay at a great value hotel.

Stayed at this hotel for 5 nights at end of Feb into March. Booked it because it offered good value and had received some good reviews. Stayed in a fourth floor room not with a sea view, didn't think it was worth the extra. Room was functional a reasonable size, with a very large comfortable bed. Plenty of wardrobe space, the bathroom was well appointed with a good range of toiletries provided. Overlooked some other hotels/buildings, but with some views to hills beyond and balcony got sun in the afternoon. Breakfast buffet was fine, plenty of choice of cold meats, breads, pastries, cereals and juices etc. Eggs and bacon were cooked to order.
Evening dinner was either a buffet or a la carte. Choice of meat, chicken, fish was cooked to order even on buffet evening. Drinks were not expensive a bottle of wine about 10 euros. View from hotel dining room and public areas over the bay was wonderful, didn't really need a sea view room.
To be fair the hotel isn't the best placed in Palma, to get to the cathedral area is a walk of about 1 1/2 miles along the front and you do have a steep walk down to get to the prom! That said we didn't mind it's a fabulous walk along the front. We hired a car and had no trouble parking right outside the hotel, come the summer this would probably be extremely difficult.

Hotel was very quiet, not surprising given the time of year, only a handful of guests staying there, although a junior/reserve Barcelona football team did stay for one night. All the staff were friendly and I would certainly think about returning.

Room Tip: only choose a sea view room if you don't mind paying the extra, otherwise the views from the res...
