“everything we could have wished for!”
Reviewed 10 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

The apartment was exactly as described - beautiful, comfortable,tasteful- the bread, fruit, yoghurt, pastries were very much enjoyed by us all over the next couple of days. We loved the bright airy feel to the place and watching life going on in the square below. Ana was attentive and helped us with our departure arrangements. We would love to return sometime. The only downside is a bit of noise from the square coming to life in the morning but easily sorted by closing some windows.

Where can I start describing our wonderful stay @ Ana's El Pisto?? If you have any doubts, forget them. We couldn't have asked for more.

As I started researching places to stay I asked many questions. Ana's responses were prompt & helpful. Where else do you get greeted at the airport & led back when you're staying at a bed & breakfast? That was so helpful & totally removed our fears about driving to the place.

The kitchen was well stocked both with food & utensils. Their renovation was beautifully done. The windows really reduce the street noise. The bedroom was airy & comfortable.

We walked the entire city easily. It's a great location.

While there, do make a reservation with the Bilbao Greeters. She gave us a wonderful tour, too!

We stayed here just for one night during our travel through the Basque county, and we liked t so much that we were sad that we weren't staying here longer. The place is literally right next to the cathedral, and has a really good view of the plaza! The apartment has a modern decor, and the host Ana certainly has very good taste in home interior and thought through everything :) The apartment has almost everything you need for a short stay - including sleepers in the bedroom, salt&pepper and herbs in the kitchen, and she'll even leave some pastries, puddings, and fruits in the kitchen! If you have a car, you'll need to park in a garage which is just a short walk away, but it wasn't much of a problem for us. We would definitely stay here again.

My sisters and I stayed at El Pisito for two nights (Fri- Sun), we were met by the owner Ana from the airport bus and a short walk to the apartment. The apartment is situated in a 19th century building in a plaza right next to the Santiago Cathedral. We felt like one of the locals as your right in the heart of the city which doesn't actually feel like a city as most things are easily accessible on foot. Everything you need in the apartment, really tastefully renovated - traditional features with modern furnishings and nice personal touches - books, tourist information, pictures, oranaments, even Ana's radio which she retrieved from a clear out when she lived in Germany - it works, sounds great and is nice to chill out to when we were resting in between eating, drinking, walking and being a tourist! Breakfast is included - delicious breads, cake, fruit, yogurt, cheese & ham, jam, butter, juices, tea/coffee, fresh milk - it fed three of us for breakfast and snacks with enough spare! The apartment is ideally located in the Old Quarter which has lots of bars, restaurants, shops. Walking distance to the food market, Plaza Neuva, Guggenheim, metro......we even had time to catch the metro to Plentzia (44 minutes from Casco Viejo) - traditional fishing port with massive beach (and surfing) - great just to wander the streets and relax. The festival leading up to Easter had started and proved to be very entertaining - people watching the locals in fancy dress, singing, dancing, playing drums, guitar...... Not a lot of sleep was had but who goes on a city break to catch up on their sleep?! All that's left to say is when I return to Bilbao I would only want to stay in one place and El Pisito would be my only choice - perfect place and city and Ana is absolutely fantastic with advice and recommendations - she's very passionate about Bilbao and obvioulsy wants you to enjoy it as much as she does. Thanks again Ana!

“THE best place to stay in Bilbao”

Just back from a fantastic city break in Bilbao. We decided at the last minute to take a chance and book an apartment that was new on Trip Advisor. We're so glad that we did as the accommodation was fantastic. Right in the heart of Bilbao old town overlooking the Cathedral. The apartment is very tasteful & stylish, recently converted by a renowned Spanish architect company. Initially we were concerned that it might be noisy but we need not have worried as it was quiet at night, aided by effective double glazing & cathedral bells that stop after 10pm & start again at 9am. It was also practical in terms of everything you need in self catering accommodation. Great location for access to all the bars & cafes in the old town especially Plaza Nueva which is literally a 3 min walk away. Fantastic pintxos in Cafe Bar Bilbao, Toke Gure & Santiaulligo. It was great sitting having breakfast and drinks in the apartment people watching, even watched a wedding one day at the cathedral. Ana, the owner is lovely & ensured that we had everything we needed. She left us with fresh bread, coffee, milk, cakes, jam, orange juice & a was really helpful in recommending places to visit etc. She even provided a travel pass for Bilbao's excellent public transport. It was touches like this that lifted was was already a great apartment into THE best place to stay in Bilbao. We would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment to anyone.
