We were very impressed by this hotel - which was far better value for money than any hotels of an equivalent standard which I found when looking for somewhere to stay. The decor is modern and sleek, the room was spotless, and the location was fantastic for getting to all the different parts of the city - it was a 10 minute relaxed stroll back from the old town in the evening after a few drinks, which was perfect.

However the best thing about the hotel for us was the staff, who went out of their way to look after us. They even recommended and then printed out detailed maps and directions for us to go on a lovely coastal walk to a pretty beach north of the city, which was fantastic.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: If you hate hearing traffic at night, perhaps ask for a room which doesn't overlook the main str...

We chose this hotel because it had excellent reviews, was near the old town to the east, the Guggenheim Museum to the west, and the river on three sides, and we were not disappointed. It is modern, clean, with excellent helpful staff and is ideally situated. As we arrived late evening (from the Santander ferry), the hotel car park was full (we were warned this might be the case); however the receptionist directed us to the public car park which is almost opposite and we left our car there for the stay which was not a problem - plenty of space and good security. Two slight disappointments with the hotel – the aircon didn’t cool (the maid opened the window for us on the second day), and the breakfast was nothing special but expensive (€15) and there was no normal tea for some reason on both mornings.
Bilbao is a lovely town, especially the old quarter and the gardens. While tapas is available all day, the restaurants only open for dinner at 9pm, which is too late for us. Fortunately we stumbled across the bar/restaurant Berton at 11 Calle Jardines in the old town which serves meals throughout the day and evening; we had an excellent meal there.
The Guggenheim is an interesting building with unique architecture. We visited all the galleries but must confess to not getting much out of it. 16 slightly different obscure paintings of Lenin and Stalin hanging upside down in dresses is not for me, however the pretentious commentary from the audio unit does provide some amusement.

For the money we paid, we consider this hotel amazing value. The rooms are large, the WiFi is fairly fast, and the bathroom excellent. Yes the breakfast is too dear, but it might pay to look at the Hotel website, which has some good deals for room, breakfast and Guggenheim admission.

Nice hotel in great location. Lots of business clients. Two computers near reception area for public use. We didn't eat breakfast at hotel because it was too expensive. Found several bakeries and cafes nearby. Convenient to metro.

Our travel agency voucher stated that we would be picked up at the hotel for a tour of Casco Viejo on Sunday morning. Unfortunately, the tour guide never showed up. The resourcefulness and persistence of the Sercotel Front Desk staff resolved the mess-- made numerous phone calls, gave us walking directions to the Tourist Agency, and arranged for the local tour to wait for us to walk there. Unbelievable Customer Service-- indicative of a very well managed hotel!!! Oh, and the Sercotel itself is new, modern, very clean, very comfortable, with great internet service, and in an excellent location for touring. We loved it and Vizcaya!! Great Value!! Would definately stay again!!!
