We have been staying at Paradores since a long long time.

This one belongs to the "Civia" classification among Paradores network, that means Paradores located urban cities.

In spite of the location, as always a Parador is a full guarantee. This one is located ove the same place an old watermill was built and inside Isabel La Catolica park.

It is worthy to have a short walk along the park, there is a direct access from the Parador to the park, and enjoy not only with the vegetation but with the flora and fauna hosted.

If you travel with kids, they will be enchanted with the variety, some of them are in large cage, but others are free range and will be kids delight.

Furthermore there a large number of aquatic birds and some nice squirrels jumping to and fro among the trees.

The parador is also close to the football stadium (formerly known as El Molinon", but in the course of being renamed under the name of a famous local player, "Quini".

You are five minutes walk far from the El Sardinero beach and its promenade.

The staff, as it happens along the whole network kind and professional.

Rather than using guides and other ways, Paradores staff is one of the best options to get best directions about what to do, addresses, eat, etc. think they are local natives and there is no better guide.

We have a pair of dinners at the restaurant, and not only quality but dishes presentation were a surprise.

Noises have no chance at this spot, you only may be startled by ducks, swans or seagulls caws.

Room tip: As for rooms facing the park, no doubt

We arrived in Santander off the ferry at about 18:00 so this was a good stop for an overnight after 2 hours driving. We had a nice meal, a good night's sleep and a nice walk in the park and down to the sea after breakfast. We managed to get the last parking space in the hotel but only squeezed in because we have a small car.

In town, a bit round the houses but GPS managed well. Easier to get out.
Arrived around 5 and we know the restaurants don't open till 8 or 8.30 but the Paradors claim they serve food in the bar all day and they usually do. Not the case here. We were told he kitchen was closed till 8.30 so we had to search the town for food.
Our room was comfortable and looked to have been done up as the sanitary ware was new and modern as were the carpets in the common areas. The beds were good and there was plenty of space in the room.
It was Friday night in November but we didn't expect so many people about till we realised that the bar which opened onto the street was also open to the public and they certainly used it. It quietened down at night and we had a peaceful night's sleep.
We frequent the Paradors a lot and we thought this was the best breakfast ever there
Maybe it was the lovely local cakes that did it!.

Just right for a stroll around the adjacent park fairly central and not too far from the beach. Very nice room overlooking the park. Very helpful staff, service very good including in the cafeteria. Football stadium close by, we stayed when a league match was on at 8pm. Very busy in cafeteria, but come 7.45pm all quiet. Amazing.

Wonderful hospitality in Gijon. Parador is in a quiet, green area of town, yet at walking distance from the beach, the downtown area and the historic center. Kind, courteous and helpful staff. Excellent breakfast and dinner.
