Very easy to book on alcazar website one day ahead and that way you skip the same day ticket line, which can be 30-60 minutes+, depending on day, and just a few dollars more.
I would skip the large group tours - they looked quite tedious, but definitely get the audio headsets or you won’t have any idea what you are seeing. I thought the complex was a little disjointed chronologically - felt like we were skipping from one historic period to another, but very interesting architecture and beautiful gardens. Maze was nice and we enjoyed a coffee on the terrace overlooking gardens, with peacocks roaming about.
