Don't hesitate to book this accomodation if you have the opportunity! We were eleven persons staying at Jorge's house, having our erasmusreunion. He welcomed us in the best possible way and tried to make us feel at home and helped whenever he could. We knew the city already, but he offered us to do a citytour for free, so if you are looking for an interesting tour and, he's the guy you are looking for. He foresaw a welcome package with cookies, wine and fresh fruit. He explained us more details about the history of the house and of the city. The house is some twohundred years old and has been the property of Jorge's family since then. The house used to be an old woolfabric. Jorge is passionate about his house and proud of its heritage. He was able to explain us a lot of historic details and anecdotes about the house and its neighbourhood. Being a real Granaíno, he loves the city and doesn't hesitate to advice you about where to find the best tapas and to see the best historic places. Furthermore, we did a typical Spanish barbecue with him. He made sangria and helped us to look for the perfect meat. In short: a great host that takes your Granada experience to a whole other level.
The house itself is a great place to stay if you want to stay in Granada, located in the old Jewish quarter Realejo. You will be staying in the groundfloor of the appartment. The rooms, kitchen and bathroom offer a lot of comfort and are well equiped. If you are with the car, there's an option to park it on the terrace.
The best part of the house is undeniably the impressive terrace and the stunning view of the Sierra Nevada. A bakery and supermarket can be found within five minute walking distance. The house is located some ten to fifteen minutes walking from the city center. It is truly an idyllic place to stay.
Staying in a beautiful city like Granada is an experience in and of itself but it is Jorge and this house that has made our stay absolutely unforgetable.
This was our first trip to Granada, but it was made very special by the warm welcome Jorge provided including both the excellent accommodations and the interesting walking tour on our arrival. The accommodations were sparkling clean and very well maintained, plus well provided with welcome basket of supplies. And quite spacious. The location provided an excellent base to explore with only a modest walk to everything we needed. Views from the front patio, where we enjoyed both breakfast and afternoon snacks, are excellent.
So much is already said about Jorge and his care and his commitment to make you feel at ease. The only thing we can say about him is that it is all true, he is a really nice guy. In fact he is so nice, that the few shortcomings of the apartment are swept aside, because they are really not important enough to be mentioned.
Yes, the apartment is pretty cold in spring, but there are heaters in the rooms.
The entry to the apartment is limited to 1M90, so forget about using the car. Granada is extremely limited for the use of a car. Taxis and buses have priority and most of the streets are one way. The central location means everything is within walking distance. Top marks to Jorge and his lovely apartment.
Anything negative at all? Yes maybe the fact that the toilet outside is advertised as a second bathroom. It is an outside toilet with a small basin to wash your hands, only accessible via the terrace. Very handy if you invite guests and you don't want them all using your bathroom.
All the rest can be resolved by,....ask Jorge, he will get it, do it or give it to you.
Oh yes one last thing, Television on the big flat screen is 55 channels and all Spanish, so if you want to watch anything foreign use your tablet or laptop and WiFi streaming (6Mb measured speed). Problem solved.
A lovely place to stay in Granada and within walking distance of all the sights, restaurants, shops etc. Our host, Jorge, was so helpful, even taking us on a short walking tour of the area and providing information about the Semana Santa celebrations. The apartment itself is very comfortable and has everything you need to self-cater if you want to. It also has a fantastic view of the Sierra Nevada mountains and a safe place to park the car. We all felt really at home here and were sad to leave. Highly recommended.
We had a good time the apartment was lovely and clean beds comfortable and rooms very quaint.I would advise using google to get u there the streets were very narrow.Jorge is so helpful and he will help you all he can.We went in January, it was so cold, so take some warm clothes when goin out I'm sure in summer it would be fab. There is a lovely outside area for barbs and sitting out on a night and it is enclosed for privacy. Its not far from everything, but be careful if you have limited mobility could be a problem Ask Jorge if you need anything, he is on hand, and will show you where to go, he even took us for a walk around.
