We first visited this tapas as part of a tour and then returned. A small but perfectly formed bar - they mainly have fish tapas and it is delicious . We had the Dog fish as our free tapas and it was amazing. It is definitely a good locals with people spilling out on to the street. Well worth finding

A slew of good reviews made me want to track this place down (and its hard to find as its on one of the smallest streets in Granada) but after three visits finding it closed I had more or less given up on eating there. On the lunchtime of my last day in Granada I had been to Bodegas La Mancha (quite an experience!) and I dropped by Julio as it was nearby. This time a low light inside showed it was open but its a dark little place with no windows to speak of so this was the only sign. Inside were a few locals and a couple of intrepid Chinese people who had split from their guides. A chilled fino went brilliantly with the free tapas (yes, the tapas in Granada are free - its insane) and the menu is chalked on a board behind the single barman. There are only about eight things - predominantly fresh fish, and they are all simple - dogfish, chipirones, aubergines w/honey, gambas - but the taste of extreme freshness and the light flour batter (more like a tempura) singles them all out. In fact, the dogfish was the standout, it tasted like it had been soaked in milk to make it so succulent, and was presented in small crispy cubes. The taste was more akin to scallop than a cheap shark. There's actually no need to order food here if you are happy with what you are presented (you can't choose what free thing they give you which seems fair!) - the tapas just keep coming, and at 2.2 euros for a beer and a tapas its possible to get luch for a tenner. Julio was small but perfectly formed, and a definite recommendation off the beaten track.

Then go here! It is a tiny bar, standing only that also serves some food. We tried to order some fried fish and drinks, and the server said just order the drinks, we'd get some fried fish as a tapa! Totally crowded and we were the only ones in there speaking English (my husband speaks decent Spanish, and ordered in Spanish). There's not a ton on the menu, but it was really good. Hard to find - it's down a side street and very unobtrusive. Worth a try!

Excellent service in a small but atmospheric tapas bar. Would say the most traditional and best in granada. Definitely come here for a couple.
