After a long English winter, we booked a week at Carmen's apartment at the end of May/early June. We had a brilliant week's holiday as a family. The communication beforehand was very clear and the apartment is only 15 minutes in a taxi from Malaga airport, costing us just 17 euros. Carmen greeted us from the taxi and was very welcoming, informing us of all the apartment amenities and showing us where the local shops and transport links are.
The apartment itself was very clean and comfortable for our family of 4, two adults and two young children. Carmen provided us with a travel cot for our 1 year old to sleep in our bedroom whilst our four year old slept in the spacious lounge/dining area on a bed there. All of us slept very well throughout the week, it is a quiet apartment block. The kitchen has everything you need for a self-catering and plenty of cupboard, fridge and freezer space. There are two grocery stores nearby (10 min walk) which had fresh veg, fruit and milk/eggs etc quite reasonably priced. We cooked our own food most evenings but did go out two evenings for great meals at the restaurant at the end of the road.
The location of the apartment is perfect for a young family. We strolled down to the beach every morning and there is a lovely spacious grassy palmed area, ideal for shade for the young ones. The beach itself was very clean and the sea was a refreshing temperature in early June - fine for adults swimming but maybe a bit cool and choppy for kids swimming. On 2 out of 6 days there was quite a strong breeze throughout the day which made the temperatures more comfortable for the kids. On average the temperature in day was high 20s, reaching early 30s by the end of the week. The swimming pool isn't heated but is very refreshing on hotter afternoons.
We went into Malaga one afternoon which was a great little trip. There is a train station just 10 minutes walk from the apartment which links the town (Los Alamos) with Malaga centre and aiport - 4 euros for a return. The trains stop at Los Alamos every 20 minutes and it only takes 15 minutes to get into Malaga. Torremolinos is just 10 minutes walk away but we didn't bother going down there.
Overall we had a fantastic family holiday in Carmen's apartment and will be returning soon!
