“Stress free and very comfortable”
Reviewed 20 February 2012

We stayed at the Don Curro Hotel as a base in Malaga for a couple of days before heading inland to Granada. The earlier reviews had said it is a good hotel in a great location and this is certainly true. It is a modern building with perhaps not a great deal of character, but this is more than made up for in basic comfort, cleanliness and convenience. We asked in advance, and were given, a good sized room on the top floor which, to our surprise had a balcony with a great view over Malaga to the mountians beyond. The room was also nice and quiet, being well above any street noise. The breakfast, which was included in the reasonable rate, was very good and kept us going for the whole day.

The hotel is within seconds of the central shopping area, the cathedral (which is beautiful) and within easy reach of the other attractions such as the Picasso Museum (a disappointment, due to the third rate pitures they have) and the Alcazaba (not a disappointment). If you arrive by train from the airport, it is a 15 minute walk from one of the less attractive parts of the city over the very ugly dry river bed.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Don Curro as a base in underrated but mostly attractive Malaga.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the top floor if you prefer peace and quiet and have a head for heights

This was our second February stay at the Don Curro and it didn't disappoint. Room 212, newly refurbished, I think, was very comfortable and the a/c unit obligingly blew out hot air during a surprisingly chilly snap. A buffet breakfast, included in the very reasonable room rate, was good (apart from the coffee!) and included bacon & eggs. The hotel's location must be the best in town. We shall return.

Room Tip: There are lovely view from the upper floor rooms.

We have stayed in this hotel many times now, and on each visit we have been welcomed and made so comfortable.
The location cannot be beaten- in the centre of Malaga, and near the sea-front, and yet quiet. The bedrooms and bathrooms are of a very high standard. Great price, too.
We cannot recommend this hotel highly enough for anyone wanting a city break.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel, with a view of the hills.

We have just come back from a 3 night break staying in this hotel. Having read a number of reviews we asked for a room on an upper floor with a view and that is exactly what we got. There was some noise from the lift as we were quite close but found this didn't really disturb us too much. The room was quite large and the bathroom a good size too. Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds really comfy too. there was a minibar with the usual assortment of overpriced drinks but at least there was room in there to put a couple of small bottles water. Unfortunately no english channels on the flat screen tv. Breakfast was nothing spectacular but was fine and as buffet style you could fill up easily and no need to get up early either! The hotel is in a good position near to loads of shops, bars and the harbour/marina. Thought Malaga was great, had the feel of a town rather than a city (relaxed not intimidating) and would hope to go again sometime. Would definately stay at this hotel again unless we went in summer when we would be looking for terrace/pool.

Room Tip: ask for room with a view away from lifts

Great hotel with fantastic location. Near very good restaurants, close to harbour and shops and within walking distance to train station. Staff very helpful and hotel very clean. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and plenty of food. Room was on 8th floor with a balcony and a view as we requested very clean room and great shower with plenty of hot water. Could not believe we had found such a great hotel at the price, will defenitely stay there again.
