This lovely stone archway forms part of the old city walls and stands at the Mezquita end of the Roman Bridge as a kind of gateway to the old town. Of course it gets crowded as the old town always does, but as a tourist myself I am part of the problem so I can hardly complain. There are many other places of interest within the area, so this is also a useful monument to use to get your bearings or as a meeting point.

It is a interesting momunent that is not very noticed because the Roman bridge in front takes most of your attention. it is well worth spending few minutes and learning its history.

Soaring at great height, majestic gate with wonderful views toward the bridge over the river, catches the sunset light perfectly.

This gate stands at the end of the Roman Bridge and looks a lot like a triumphant arch, in neo-classical style. It's right in the tourist area next to the Mezquita, so worth a look. Definitely go at night when it's light up. Both he arch and the roman bridge look amazing when lit up.
