Wonderful visit that is informative and a touchstone to the history of Luther and monastic life. Come on Sunday for a wonderful service in the chapel.

We stayed for two nights at the cloisters, nothing in English ( prior to holiday hadn't expected everything to be in English but got spoilt everywhere else ). We bought a very poor, out of date, only English guide booklet in reception, but not really what we wanted which was a simple guide to highlights of the buildings. Given volume of international tourists the centre should try harder.
The website advertised itself as a place of tranquility, Not! lots of big, loud local church groups visiting.

Rooms very poorly designed, booked a double, misleading as was a twin, so we had 2 rooms when could have shared. The bathroom was so small I couldn't sit straight on the loo! Breakfast was 7 til 9.30 but if you went down at 9( I'm on holiday! ) then felt like you had leftovers....underbaked rolls, low fat spread, no butter, no milk, orange juice run out, had to search for coffee cups..
have stayed in lots of Christian centres before, but never felt less welcomed. This may work as a base for church groups, but less so for independent travellers.
Worst pillows so far in Germany. .

Very interesting stop on Luther Reformation tour. Much of this was destroyed in WW2, but still quite worth seeing.

Our 500th Anniversary of the Reformation tour group visited this site due to its historic significance in the life of Martin Luther. It is located adjacent to the Augustiner Church, itself worthy of a visit to see its recently restored primary stained glass window. The Augustinerkloster gives an excellent insight to the lives of monks during the time of Martin Luther.

We came here on a Reformation tour. It is where Martin Luther studied to become a monk. To be in the same rooms, walk the walk he did, was amazing.
