“Great location but not worth it”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2012

Stayed just for couple if nights during a business trip, the hotel is very well located, close to the rail station and the downtown with several shops and restaurants around, but the hotel itself is looking old and the services are not great either. The usual rip-offs (parking, Internet, water etc. ) plus an overpriced breakfast!
One day we stocked in the parking for more than 10 minuets just waiting for somebody to open the gripped door!
Won't stay again if given other options!

The rooms were not so spacious as compared to what i would like in a normal scenario.
Food was ok, location is very nice, center of market, walkable distance from old city famous market area, mcdonalds, othr food joints, cooperative staff.

I was traveling to the industrial region of Saarland on a company visit and spent about 4 days/nights in this hotel.

Its is a pretty good business hotel with all the basic amenities in place. The rooms were decently big and comfortable. The staff at the reception were pretty courteous and helpful and fortunately understand basic english (very important for a foreign traveller in Germany). Its located right in the city so we had easy access to the shopping district and the famous December Christmas market. There also quite a few good breweries and restaurants in the vicinity. The new shopping mall opened just a few meters away from the hotel is a good place for the shop-a-holics...

Some thing that I found really surprising (and see it as a big drawback) is that the hotel rooms do not have an electric kettle and tea/coffee which most business hotels give complimentary...most of us indians need a shot of hot tea in the morning the moment we get up...and as you know room service in Europe is quite expensive and most hotels do not offer it (except the 5 star ones)...not really sure whether this one did as i did not try. The television has mostly German/European channels and hardly any english channels...surprisingly they had some X rated turkish/arabic/pakistani (not really sure about the origin/language) free-to-air channels...!

another thing- this hotel does not offer free wifi in the rooms, though most hotels in Europe do not offer it now a days for free...but in the same trip i stayed at 2 more hotels and they did..! anyways you have the option to access free internet at the business centre near the reception...but checking emails at leisure in the comfort of your room after a busy day is something different...

the restaurant is pretty good with the standard European/continental fare...they serve a sumptuous complimentary breakfast though (and theres a decent amount of things available for asian vegetarians too)...best part is they offer the typical english breakfast tea...some strong tea of our Indian liking...

Overall a good place to stay if you are in Saarbrucken...

Right off the Saarbrucken Centre, 200m to nearest Starbucks, shops, cafes and restaurants just around the corner less than a minute walking.
Breakfast at Hotel not needed - Mr. Baker Bakery across the street will get you a full breakfast for 5Euro, MacDonald Cafe 100m up the road next to the central train station will get you the same.
Free pass from the hotel to the largest gym in Saarbrucken - 5 min walking.
Pay for internet and parking a bit anoying - free internet in the lobby (and at the Starbucks)
Compared to the Liedinger Hotel I stayed last time - much better value for my money!
(and the staff speak English which is not very common in this area of Germany)
