We recently stayed four nights at the Bornheimer Hof hotel and had mixed feelings about it at first, but if you're looking for a budget hotel in the Bornheim area of Frankfurt, and don't need the frills you'd find at more expensive hotels, this may be the place for you.

We happened to arrive in Frankfurt during a very warm and humid weather spell, so our non-air conditioned room was like an oven. They did supply a small portable fan, however, which helped a little. Our trip also happened to coincide with a very loud annual summer street festival -- the epicenter of which was only about 50 yards away from our room -- so even with the windows closed it sounded like a techno-disco nightmare. Thankfully, we had ear plugs, which saved us. I think this only happens once a year, so it probably isn't typical.

The hotel was clean and reasonably priced. The German breakfast buffet was good (typical selection of meats, cheeses, dairy, breads, eggs, coffee, juices, etc.), and their serving hours were generous (until 10 a.m.).

What's great about this hotel is the location: It's located on a terrific street that offers every kind of restaurant and shop available. If you want great ice cream, an internet cafe, an Irish pub -- and everything in between -- you'll find it on the Bergerstrasse, and within easy walking distance of this hotel. The location ROCKS!

On our last night, we had a meal at the Itallian restaurant located below the hotel, and it was absolutely fabulous! The restaurant is called Ristorante La Duchessa and it opened only a few months ago. Four of us ate there and each of us had a different pasta dish -- and we were all ecstatic about our meals! The salads were good, the entrees and menu choices are phenomenal, and the service was outstanding. We had beers, the house red wine (which was surprisingly good), a terrific meal, and were offered complimentary lemoncello at the end of our meal. I highly recommend eating at this restaurant! Their website is http://www.laduchessa.de

For a bargain-priced hotel located in the heart of the Bornheim Bergerstrasse district, this is a pretty good choice over all. It's all about Location, Location, Location...

We stay here a group from 9 people an we enjoy our stay very much.

The Hotel is nice and clean, the rooms are pretty and also clean. The breakfast was excellent and not expected for a three star hotel.

The stuff was more than friendly and very helpful to all our request. We all would prefer this hotel for another stay in Frankfurt again.

We had a wedding party of 15 staying in the hotel and would NEVER recommend this hotel to anyone! Not only were the staff extremely rude, they shouted abuse at the guests, and threatened physical assault on my brother-in-law and mother.

On check-out, all guests were offered to keep their bags in what should have been a secure area, right beside the reception desk, only to discover later that jewellery and video cameras had been stolen. The police arrived twice at the hotel (at which point the staff became over-friendly) but without proof and in the rush to catch flights home nothing was resolved.

If you are staying in Frankfurt, please avoid this hotel, as you do not want this type of accommodation to ruin your stay.

This is a small hotel in the Bornheim Mitte area about 20 minute walk to the North-East of the city. It's situated in a really nice area worth discovering and you can catch a metro 3 stops to the city area.

The hotel included a continental breakfast which was excellent value.

The hotel itself had clean tidy rooms and large bathrooms.

We enjoyed our stay in Frankfurt and would return to this hotel again.
