Well, the Austrians are always a bit suspicious when it comes to German food, but this revised some of my prejudices.
Absolutely divine food, fantastic wines that are well selected for the courses, and very charming staff.
If you have reason to celebrate, this is a wonderful place to do so.

As a vegetarian who must be among the biggest fan of tomatoes, I wish to especially thank the kitchen for spoiling me with a starter featuring varitions of tomatoes (actually, it was the rabbit with gin and tomatoes, just without rabbit). 100 percent delicious!!!

Staying at the hotel Bayrisches Haus, we wanted to test this restaurant located in the old house next to the hotel. First the atmosphere is very nice, then the service very good. The meals are really excellent. We have the choice between two menus and can choose between 3 and 6 courses. It is obviously not cheap but the price is fair compared to the service, the atmosphere and the food. If you are in Potsdam, do not miss it.

Couldn't fault this restaurant, food divine and well explained, traditional but not oppressive surroundings but it was Tina and the wonderful wine waiter(ress) who made our evening so special - thank you very much to you both.

My partner and I decided to check out this restaurant on the basis of a review in Frommers while we were touring in Potsdam. Note of caution for those taking public transport - the hotel is situated a good 800 metres away from the main road, hence taxi is recommended if you do not want to walk in the dark from the bus stop!

The restaurant was furnished in a very classical manner right on the left side of the Relais and Chateaux property with wooden furniture all around. When we sat down we were asked if we wanted any aperitif - I decided to look at the wine list first and order a couple of white wines which were good choices in my opinion.

We were also served small bites that were compliments of the chef to start off with - it was some puree to the best of my memory.

Starter - My partner had the red cabbage soup with some fresh fish on top - the fish was extremely fresh while the soup was just simply divine! I skipped this.

Mains - My partner had the cod fish while I had the sea bass. Both were really good, fresh and you could taste the fact that the fish was cooked "just right" - which is a very difficult thing to achieve! Especially my sea bass in my opinion - I was relishing every morsel that went into my mouth

Dessert - Decided to go for desserts and guess what? I got a two course dessert! Started off with a creme brulee (it was quite a unique flavor) and ended with some light cake and fruit. Superb!

Brandy - I was curious as to the pipette-like thing in the middle of the room and enquired what it contained as I had seen the server pouring it for someone else. Was told it was a Swiss brandy that contained five flavours - apple, pear, blackberry, cherry and raspberry. Decided to go for it and it was simply the best.liquor.ever that I had ever tasted. Strangely enough - the brandy does not "burn" your throat on the way down - it was very very pleasant tasting (and my partner concurred!). Go for this!

Value - The whole meal between the two of us came up to EUR 145. I thought that was a pretty good deal considering the reputation of the place and the Michelin Star. Pity it does not have more English reviews! Having eaten our fill, we decided this time it was a better idea to call for a cab out to the Potsdam train station - which cost us EUR 16 or thereabouts.
