I have visited bremen with my husband and 8 year old who is mad on footy. We took the werder bremen football tour and my little boy absolutely loved it. It was great value for money and a great little 1/2 day out. We also visited universum which is a must if you are travelling with children. There are lots of shops if you like a spot of shopping and lots of sight seeing to do. Expect to eat a lot when you are in bremen as the food is amazing, and lots of it!!! You find yourself trying out all different types of food. We 100% recommend prizeotel as a base to stay.

With a really cheap Ryan air flight and the stories about the famous Christmas fairs in Germany this was worth a punt. Tram from the airport to the old town was stupidly simple, by far the easiest transfer from airport to city. Remember all those stories of landing 100 miles from the town, here you land IN the town! The Christmas fair is a collection of stalls selling mainly old fashioned style toys, candles, decorations (no tinsel interestingly) although not much tack. In fact many of the items were quite pricy. Loads of food stalls. A few amusement rides. Worth a look but not enough to fill the day between flights. Also there is only the cathedral to try and warm up in. Free loos at MacDonalds by the tram stop. There is a fair amount spread out around the old streets. Bratwurst galore if you are into the smoky sausage. Seek out the 1/2 meter Bratwurst - mental munch! Worth the trip to say you had one (4 Euros.)
