“Splendid (if you catch the right rate)”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 March 2012

Traveled to Berlin during Berlinale Film Festival and was lucky to catch a nice incl.breakfast rate at the Melia. Shortly put the hotel is really wonderful. It is on the corporate side yet the rooms and hallways are unusually colorful, warm and tastefully decorated, making you feel at home and at ease which is rather unique for a hotel of this size. The rooms are large, even the standart ones, very well apointed, beds are top notch, huge and comfortable. You have to pay a lot (I think 25 EUR) for wifi which is a snag, on the other hand almost all cafes in Berlin (unlike in London or Paris) offer free wifi. The breakfast was wonderful and aside to the traditional five star buffet fair served a great morning coffee. The fitness centre with sauna is small but quite cute with a sexy balcony. The location is tremendous - walking distance to high end shopping on the left, low end fair on the right across the bridge, few hunded meters away from Museums Insel and right opposite Friedrich strasse station. The only slight problem was with understaffing of the front desk hence long lines for everything. All in all, used to stay at Pullman Sweizerhof in Budapester Strasse but prefer the Melia by far. There are plenty of choises of accommodation throughout Berlin but should you catch a rate of about 120 EUR a night - go Melia.

The Melia Berlin is a lovely hotel in central Berlin, in a great location for visiting many of the sights! The staff are friendly and welcoming from the outset. I stayed in a Junior Suite, which was lovely. Big bed, extremely comfortable. Great bathroom with separate bath, shower and WC. The whole room was very clean and everything felt new and fresh.
Buffet breakfast was good - a large selection of hot and cold food to choose from.
Under half an hour in a taxi from Tegel airport, and close to Freidrichstrasse train station for travel to Schoenefeld. Would definitely stay there again if in Berlin.

Good hotel, stayed whit new years eve what is à little bit expensive. The room on the level floor is worth the money. Only thing negative... Too hot in the rooms. Great and cheap tapas restaurant!

I have never reviewed a hotel before & have stayed in many luxury ones including Claridges, & George V, but this hotel just has something special at a very reasonable price even the room service was good value. Spotless rooms, most comfortable beds ever, friendly staff, great selection at breakfast incl.a dedicated egg chef & my favourite but unfortunately only discovered on last day - white & rose carva. Fantastic location with room overlooking the River Spree, lively tapas bar, pianist in lounge. And this is all before we explored Berlin which we absolutely loved. Not sure if they are still offering this deal but we also got a voucher for 15euros per person per night which they took off our final bill (we thought it would only be for their resturant meals). So that was the mini bar & room service covered! Can't recommend this hotel enough.

Stayed here in March 2012 while attending trade show at Messe Berlin. Great location for local sights and convenient access via public transport at the Freidrichstrasse station located 1 block from the hotel. Direct line right to Berlin Messe. Great breakfast buffet and really nice rooms.
