“Better Than I Thought”
Reviewed 20 September 2012

We waited till we arrived in Germany to book each "leg" of the trip. We tried to find something that fit into the following categories: clean, convenient, decent priced, has parking, and bed-bug free. Of all the top rated hotels that were available, The Moevenpick fits the majority of my requirements.

The place was very modern and full of a majority of business people. There were a bunch of conventions/meetings in town. They have an area dedicated to the guest to help them figure out their traveling needs around the city. They have a swanky bar and a restaurant (separate).

The room has a high ceiling, so it makes the room feel a little more bigger. They leave a little note card with a piece of chocolate every day. It was a nice little treat, especially when they tasted so good. The bed comfort level was alright, but it was fine considering our last hotel wasn't as comfortable.

The bathroom door is actually a sliding door with glass blocks as the wall. I wasn't too thrilled with the shower situation because if you were showering, a lot of the water gets "sprayed" out of the area, since it's only a partial glass raise on the tub. I also wished the water pressure was a little more higher. All in all, the bathroom was not too cramped and provided not only a regular mirror, but a magnifying mirror plus a hair dryer.

We had to pay for internet daily and they print out a code for each day to use. it was a little confusing because two nights in a row, it wouldn't let us log in under that code despite still being under the 24 hour live use rule. The second night we decided to ask the front desk and he was kind enough to come upstairs to our room immediately to figure it out. After assessing the situation, he just decided to print us out two more codes to use since we had to use our 3rd code within the 1.5 days of being there. After that, everything seemed to work fine.

When we checked in, we also paid to garage our rental car, which is not even half a block away from the hotel itself. You need a garage access card to get in and out. They gave us a spot number to park, but since it was occupied, we just used the spot next to it.

The walls/door seems a bit thin because it doesn't seem to be blocking sound. In the mornings it's the loudest, probably because people are checking out or leaving for the day,

Not as close as I thought to the city center, but very close to a train station, plus if you decide to walk/wander/explore, it's worth it. We stumbled up so many gems by going down different streets.

All in all, it was a good hotel with very helpful and friendly staff. Would not mind staying again.

I only stayed at the hotel for 1 night so it was a short stay but in that time we were very well looked after. I was travelling with a group and we were looked after by a lady at the hotel.

The location is great walking distance to Potsdam Platz station, shops and restaurants.

The rooms were lovely really spacious and had lovely high celings. The bathroom was my favourite part of the bedrooms. The double rooms have glass bricks around where the bathroom is, which is really unusal but looks great. The bathrooms are really modern.

We had a meal in the hotels restaurant which was lovely, they did us a selection of starters to share which were amazing. Followed by veal which I would highly recommend. We then had a selection of deserts which were also really nice.

We then went in the bar of the hotel its really nice in there very modern cocktail bar. The barman was great and made us some faboulous cocktails.

Breakfast the next morning was also very good, plenty of choice fresh jucies, cooked breakfast, continental breakfast, different breads and jams and fresh fruit.

Hotel is new and well-constructed. Room was quite large by European standards, well-appointed with good quality linens and toiletries, and extremely quiet (no hall or street noise whatsoever). Staff was super-friendly and very helpful. The hotel is a few blocks farther away from the action than I would have liked (you have to walk several blocks to get to restaurants and shops), but it's relatively convenient to the Potzdamer Platz shopping center, where you have a wide variety of stores and restaurants and a large, well-stocked grocery store. About the only real downside was their glacially slow WiFi (which they charge quite a bit for), which frequently did not work at all. When I complained, they gave me a cable which helped a bit, but I frankly think they should have refunded at least one day's worth of my WiFi charges. I'd probably stay here again on my next visit to Berlin, but I hope they improve their wireless service in the meantime.

Room Tip: Try to get an outside room if possible - inside rooms look out into a rather industrial looking cour...

Just had 3 days at the Moevenpick hotel, it should be a five star hotel, nothing at all to point a finger at. the rooms are very large, and the beds are proberbly the we,ve ever slept in,breakfast was included and what a choice of food, everything was there, the staff are very friendly and helpfull, at times we thought we were the only people staying there it was so quiet, it,s very close to Potsdammer platz and Brandenbuger Tor, in fact its close to all the main attractions if you like a bit of a walk. Recomend also a trip on the city sightseeing bus (hop on hop off) where you see everything there is to see. Berlin is a city you just have to come back, it grows on you.

This is my second time at the Movenpick Berlin. It is located close to Pottsdammer Platz, a lively area with restaurants and shopping, and also close to the underground.
The reception is always warm, professional and helpful. The hotel is nicely decorated and comfortable.
I would recommend this hotel.
