We stayed in a nice private room, and while I wasn't blown away by the hostel itself, it was clean and in a good location, so it did what we needed. It's only a block or two away from the train, and there is a tram across the street. The staff were great and very helpful with directions. Good, free wifi in the rooms and a safe as well. The bar downstairs was mediocre, and the free beer we got with our stay was not very good. The Hasselhoff museum is more like a little shrine, but it's worth a quick minute look. The attached cafe upstairs, however, is well worth going to for breakfast! The all you can eat for 5 euro is a great deal and they have such a good spread with muesli toppings, toast, and lunch sandwich options (fresh mozzarella!). It's not a bad choice for accommodation in Berlin.

I really enjoyed my stay in Circus Hostel. The location was excellent and I felt really safe in the area and in the hostel, especially traveling by myself.

The room was really clean and the bed and pillow were comfortable. Toilets and showers were also clean every time I used them.

The streets were busy and there were some noise coming from the street, but it didn't bother me at all. The rooms and hallways were always calm and quiet.

The staff was super nice, the breakfast was good and the atmosphere in the hostel was excellent.

We have previously stayed in the nearby Circus Apartments and although the Hostel is not quite as plush it is still clean and comfy with friendly staff. We stayed on the top floor with great panoramic view of the city, the room has all facilities - kitchen (fridge, freezer, oven, dishwasher, kettle), bathroom with shower (note no complimentary shampoo etc), lounge area and twin beds (which easily push together), wardrobe and small safe. Our room on the 5th floor had balconies front and back, the front balcony offers a superb panoramic view of Berlin from the TV tower to the Reichstag and beyond. One criticism of the room - it was quite hot and stuffy after being shut up all day, this was in October, don't know what it would be like in the height of summer but a few minutes with both balcony doors open cooled it down.
Breakfast is available in the adjoining cafe at 5 euros, it's small and simple but ok.
There is luggage storage downstairs (I think it was 60 cents for a couple of hours) and reception has a free safe. Lift and stair access to all floors.
There are plenty of restaurants etc in the nearby streets and the U-Bahn (Rosenthaler Platz) and a tram stop are right outside the entrance door.
All in all, fully recommended.

Amazing hospitality and high quality services with neat design. You can add the central position in Berlin, rent-a-bike option, bar and buffet and you have a strong option for staying in the city.

Although I travelled alone, I felt safe at all times in the hostel and in the neighbourhood (Mitte).

P.S. Check out the Circus beer at their bar, totally worth it.

Great property. Next to tram and U Bahn. Clean and comfy beds. Plenty of space. Good and bar and café for coffee and snacks. 5 euro cold breakfast also good (until 1pm). Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Only slight down side is there are not many showers and toilets for the amount of beds but didn't really have to queue. Maybe the mornings were busier for showers? Overall. Good stay.

Room Tip: try to get a room that doesn't face the main streets
