“Great hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 April 2012

I have just spent 5 nights here over Easter and wish I was still there!
I have stayed here a number of times and never really think of staying anywhere else. I asked to be in the Westwing as I like the decor and room layout better than the other. I had a suite with a view over the Zoo and Kaiser Willhelm memorial church. It comes with 3 tvs which have a great number of programmes inc 8 or more in English. There is now a free wifi connection, low speed for an hour or faster with payment,.fine for checking emails.
Happily toiletries have returned to Elemis. I had room service breakfast most mornings and it was delivered on time and was very good, apart from the little dried out croissants! Also had a room service burger which was good and much better than previously. On the friday night I wanted something quick to eat and went in the Greek restaurant opposite, it was pretty bad and just a waste of money, so the time I had room service and was much happier.
At all times the staff were friendly and helpful(as usual here)
My one surprise was that the lit glass bookshelves had dust that I could write in, maybe housekeeping need some glasses(room917) Otherwise everything was kept spotless.
I like the location next to the green of the Zoo and the Tiergarten but only a few mins from KaDeWe and if you want to go to Mitte there are taxis and busses at the door.
I am looking forward to my next visit

Room Tip: If you are likely to spend a lot of time in the hotel then consider a club room, with the nice loung...

We stayed twice in the same week in this excellent hotel in a great location for public transport and shopping. The hotel staff were very efficient and friendly, and the service excellent. The rooms are clean and well furnished (including a kettle) although the position of the TV is rather odd and difficult to watch in comfort - but there is a very wide range of TV programmes and films on offer (49 different films!). It is a typical city centre conference hotel, so if you want something that is full of character and individual this isn't for you. The breakfast is superb, wide range of cold and hot food including pancakes and eggs cooked to order. There is a wide range of yoghurts, fruit, breads, pastries and teas and coffees. At busy times the restaurant is extended for breakfast into the conservatory which makes a very pleasant setting. The Marlene Bar food is very good, with efficient and pleasant service from staff speaking good English and volunteering English menus. The spa was closed for refurbishment but an alternative was offered at a nearby hotel.

Wonderful hotel, beautiful rooms and the staff are faultless. It's such a big hotel and yet the staff make you feel like you are their priority regardless. Room was beautiful and well serviced, I really can't stress enough how fantastic the staff were and the Intercontinental should be incredibly proud of their brand is being represented in Berlin. Thanks so much for contributing to our wonderful time in Berlin.

Has to make a local call during recent stay. Was SHOCKED at check-out that local calls, even if a bloc away are 9.00 euros, approx 12USD (Info from desk mgr).

Excessive is an understatement, that is,considering there are no posts in the room advising of this outrageous charge.

On another note, seems to be a problem with hotels in Germany. Do not disturb means DO NOT DISTURB. That means, do not telephone the room and awake me to ask: I notice you have a DO NOT DISTURB SIGN, do you need anything?

I would suggest, as Bleibtreu Hotel does, instead, leaving a note under the door.......

Dear “Howdy55”,

Thank you very much for your feedback. Our telephone rates are mentioned in our in-room TV dictionary. Each minute we charge 1.5 Euro, which is the average rate for calls in Berlin’s 5* hotels. I am very sorry that this caused any dissatisfaction. We are taking your comment very seriously and will display our telephone rates on a more prominent place next to the telephone.

Let me also apologise that you felt disturbed by our housekeeping staff. Although you put on the “do not disturb” sign, we are obliged to check every room once within 24 hours for security reasons.

I hope we will make your next stay more pleasant and enjoyable.

Kind regards,

Robert P. Herr

We booked the intercontinental Berlin for a two night stay in a junior suite. Check in was very quick and efficient, and our room was exceptional; Very modern with a living room linked to the bedroom, which could be used to accommodate more people if needed. We booked on the friends and family rate and got a great rate, however, should we of had to pay the full rate it would have been well worth the money anyway. The pool and spa facilities are very well equipped and well worth making use of during your stay. All the staff was very professional and friendly and offered great service, which made us feel very welcome. If I visit Berlin again in the future I will be sure to book at the Intercontinental, thanks for a great stay!!

Room Tip: Book a junior suite its well worth the money.
