We had a 4 night stay in the compact apartment on the 2nd floor. We arrived early before check in at 2pm but we were warmly welcomed and allowed to leave our luggage and return later. The guy who checked us in was very helpful and recommended we visit the Berlin wall memorial centre which was just a short walk away to fill the time.
The apartment itself was a good size and it had everything we needed - an iron, ironing board etc. I also liked the art in the room where someone had mounted the thumb prints from previous guests. Everything was clean and tidy. The decor was a little worn and there was some weird stains on the curtains etc but it just needed a lick of paint - it was otherwise spotless.
The fridge was filled with drinks that there was a price list for. This is good for convenience but there is a Lidl just down the road so we stocked up ourselves.
The wi-fi was brilliant - I skyped home and the signal was excellent. We just entered the password into multiple devices and didn't have to bother again.
The shower was also really good - powerful with hot water.
The location of the apartment is in a safe, bohemian, arty type area. It is surrounded with gluten free, vegan type cafes. The streets are tree lined and lovely with everyone riding around on bicycles. There is a Lidl on the way back from Senefelderplatz U-bahn which is handy. If you walk towards the Rosenthaler Platz stop there are some really nice restaurants and cafes - every cuisine you could want. We ate breakfast at Zut Rose - a lovely lady and an amazing local and english breakfast for about 23 euros (it was huge).
One slight thing that I missed in the area was a takeaway. We walked aroud one night after a very tiring day (not wanting a sit down meal) and couldn't find a takeaway - we ended up getting some snacks from Lidl so if you wanted fast food it wasn't the area - but then it might of been a little out of place there.
We arrived back everyday to the Senefelderplatz U-bahn and set off each day from Rosenthaler Platz. They are both around 7 minutes walk from the loft but Senefelderplatz is uphill from the loft and Rosenthaler is downhill.
The only downside we found to the apartment was the noise levels and my husband found it too hot - hence why we scored 3 and not 4/5. We had to sleep with the windows open to keep cool and the noise from outside was quite bad (there is a busy restarant right across the street). There seemed to be some building work going on further down the road that woke us up in the mornings. There was some periods where it went very quiet and we enjoyed some late afternoon naps.
Overall a good experience and we would stay here again.
