careful how and what you book

2.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 24 Dec 2012
the rooms here are quite modern but the bath/shower design made the floor very wet.
clean and right on the main pedestrian street, easy walk from train station.
free wifi worked well.

and price seemed good,
but our booking didnt go well as we thought we had booked a double room with extra person (child) as we only wanted the room & beds for the night, and would have shared quite easily.

but management required us to upgrade to a suite style room with a sofa bed, at extra cost, And we still got charged for the extra person, So a EUR69 night turned into E118, without breakfast.

And then a maintenance issue caused the bathroom water to be turned off @ 1030, just as we were finishing. Not a good ending.

If just visiting the one castle, I would think a daytrip from Munich would be better, especially if using the Bayern travel card after 0900. This is because you need to catch a bus from Fussen to the castle area anyway, which is included in the Bayern Card. One day in the area was certainly enough for us, even in winter.

For an awesome price, you get: located right in the altstadt, located next to food outlets, a functional and tastefully designed room n good service. The only downside is that parking is a walk away but seriously, this place is worth every penny. We were so impressed by this place, kudos to the management!

Three of us stayed in this Two bedroom apartment. It was new, extremely clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. It is situated in the pedestrian area of Fussen so parking was down the road a bit but not far. Free wifi in public areas is advertised but we also had free wifi in our rooms which was great. Fantastic breakfast was provided for 5.60Euros. Whilst the bedrooms and sitting we're spacious and had a fridge and a kettle with tea provided, there was nowhere to cook so I question the word apartment. Nevertheless it was great value for money and the surrounding town and general location were absolutely stunning.

Stayed here for 1 night in the comfort apartment for 4 because we were visiting the castles. On the day of check in, the young guy at the reception was friendly but his english was limited. Anyway we were not able to have an early check in and so we left our bags at the reception and went to visit the castles. A discount coupon for the castles was given to us and although I had made reservations online for the castle tickets, I was still able to use the coupon...yipeee! By the time we came back at around 5pm, I believe the owner was manning the reception. He was another friendly guy who spoke great english and our bags were already in our apartment:) As described by other reviewers, the aprtment is spacious w a bigger masterbedroom and a smaller room with another double bed. I can tell it was furnished entirely with Ikea furniture but evrything works so no complaints. There is only 1 small bathroom with good water pressure and lots of hot water. No washing machine though and you have to wash all your plates and clean up the kitchen when you check out or you have to pay extra cleaning fees. We are ok with that. There is no living room in the apartment only 2 bedrooms and a well equiped kitchen with a small dinning corner for 4. For a short stay the apartment is more than sufficient.

This is a family business with modern facilities but has no elevator. Breakfast should be included for the price. At first, the owner was very intrusive and would like to know our citizenship, birthplace and so forth, he was not too helpful on how to get to the Ludwig castles. He brags his hotel ownership in so many places like Brazil, Fussen and others. The only thing I like in this place are modern construction but there is no help in bringing luggage to 3rd floor. You are on your own.

Room tip: Don't go to this hotel if you have a luggage, it will break your back.

The hotel is located in the old part of Fussen in the pedestrian zone. We stayed in the Classic Quadruple Room. The room is not just a room, it was a small apartment with entrance hall. The room was large, clean, modern and comfortable. Breakfast is various, cost 5.90 euro per person. Free coffee for guests in the lobby. Parking provided by the hotel costs 3 euro per day. Free Wifi.
The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. You can get a discount for castle's visit.
Overall this is a great base to explore the castles and surrounding countryside.
