We ordered a German plate for two person and it was great. Also, the craft beer of the place was perfect, don't hesitate to try it. I suggest you, if you try only one beer, pass the Paulaner and try their own beer. The prices were also normal. Don't forget to make a reservation.

We went there March 30, 2018. We were very pleased with the food, service, and atmosphere. We ordered Bayernshmaus for two which consisted of a roasted pork knuckle, duck, pork, red cabbage, sauerkraut, bread dumpling, potato dumpling, and 2 sauces. It was quite good. The pork knuckle could have been a bit juicier (maybe left on the fire a bit too long), but everything else was delicious, especially the duck. Service was great, and atmosphere lively. We went on a Friday night and it was packed with everyone sitting a large tables eating and drinking. It would be really good in the summer with a really cool outside area. I would definitely go there again. Highly recommend.

Read rave reviews about this place so decided to head in at around 5pm in the hopes to get a table....The place was packed! We managed to get a table for an hour and ordered the original dumplings and a beer. The food arrived before the beers and the whole time felt like we were rushed and needed to get off the table.
The dumplings were OK but in hindsight i should have ordered something different. As my partner said "its like eating stuffing without the roast".
I would go again and firstly make a reservation so your not rushed and not order the dumplings.

My family and I had been at the museum all day and skipped lunch. When we left it was snowing and we really just wanted to walk some place close for a good warm German meal. This is very close to the Deutsches Museum, easy walk through the back gate and across the bridge. We got there right when they opened and although they were fully booked for the evening, we got a table until the reservation got there at 7:30 which was plenty of time. We had a sampler platter they serve for a per person cost and two excellent deserts. This was our last night in Munich, so we ate a little more than normal. The service was great and the food was fantastic. Had we known how good this place was, we would have traveled over to this place. Highly recommend.

Although 5mins walk from Rosenheimerplatz and off the beaten track this place was heaving on a cold Wednesday evening. As I as solo I dined at the bar but still enjoyed an excellent half duck with dumplings and red cabbage and a beer.

As well as perfect Bavarian food they have a real Bavarian pub atmosphere but more genuine than the touristy main beer Keller’s 10mins away around Marienplatz. Instead this was full of locals enjoying their food beer and good company.

I would definitely recommend the Wirtshaus in der Au to anybody prepared to walk a couple of minutes from the Zwei Brucke / Deutsches Meseum looking for some real Bavarian atmosphere.
