I was visiting Munich for almost a week during March and booked this hotel by recommendation from my work colleagues.
The hotel's location is perfect, just few steps from Marienplaz - in the heart of Munich, very close to Munich's main attractions.

Just outside the hotel there are lots of great restaurants, shops and traditional Bavarian pubs, yet the Hotel is very quiet, so good sleeping quality is guaranteed.

A metro station is located very close to the Hotel which is another plus.

The hotel rooms are very clean and tidy with all the needed facilities you may require.
The breakfast is AMAZING, I have been in lots of hotels in my life but this is something I must mention.

Another great bonus is a very good meat restaurant that's located right near the hotel :)

The only con I found is no free WiFi (there is a free Internet station near the reception).

Buttom line, this is a very good hotel which offers a great value for your money - go for it.

Dear guest,

thank you very much for your amazing recommendation.
We are very happy, that you enjoyed your stay.

Did you know, that the WiFi in the whole hotel just costs 3,00 Euro for 24 hours?
This is a very great offer from our hotel.

Hope to welcome you again.

The Mercure Hotel Altstadt is in a great location, steps to the Marienplaz, and Maxamillionstrasse for moderate to high end shopping. Easy walk to Hofbrauhaus and Hard Rock Cafe. along with many historic sites in Old Town Munich. The hotel was very clean and modern with an elevator and air conditioning of which both can be a challenge to find in Germany. We have lived here for 5 years and trust me on that. Our room was average in size, much like a Marriott or Holiday Inn. The beds were comfortable and the bath had a tub/shower with soaps, shampoo, lotion, & hairdryer. Towels were nice and soft but don't expect wash cloths in Europe. The front desk was friendly and helpful at check in/out. Breakfast was included in the rate and it was very good with scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, cereal, yogurt and the traditional German breakfast of cold meat, cheese, and brochen. The choices of breads and croisants was nice and a toaster was available. Coffee, tea, milk, & juices were plentiful. The breakfast was a nice surprise for Americans that like a fuller variety for breakfast than the Germans. There is also a Steak House that is attached to the hotel and can be accessed next to the elevator. We ate there and it was excellent.

Dear guest,

thank you very much for your nice words.
We are very happy that you enjoyed staying with us.

Did you have seen our favoured orange juice machine in the breakfast room? You can make very freshly squeezed orange juice by yourself - very delicious.

We hope to welcome you again.

With warm regards

Location of the hotel is really good. Just few steps from marienplaz and pedestrian streets (and shopping). There was big construction on going opposite the hotel but did not bother me at all as I did not spent any time at the hotel during the day when workers were on duty.

Room was clean as well as bathroom (with shower no bath). Bed was comfortable, overall I have nothing negative to say on the room. Well size of the room was not too big, but I did not expect any bigger so not any issue for me.

Breakfast, that was included in the price, was excellent. Especially the freshly squeezed orange juice...

Only thing that perhaps hotel could pay attention is service. It was not bad of all, e.g checking in and out was fluent and service was good. But when people ale walking by the lobby, staff could be bit more customer oriented than just saying hello rather than focusing on computer. This actually was not any problem, but just if they would like to improve this is only thing coming to my mind.

I will definitely check availability of this hotel also next time visiting Munich.

this is a simple but good hotel right on the main pedestrian street in the heart of munchen.
we had a hired car and there is a big public park almost touching the hotel. it costs 20 euro per day and is closed for the night until 7 am.
of course with a taxi is even easier.
around the hotel are many many torist attractions, restaurants, night life and shopping.
breakfast - high quality.

Parking was not available during my stay.
Nearby construction site noise is annoying.
Rooms are nice, reasonably large and very clean.
Breakfast good and consistent.
Overall a pleasant stay and a location that you highly recommend.

Dear guest,

thank you very much for your positive feedback. We are very happy that you enjoyed staying with us. Regarding the parking we are very sorry that it wasn't available during your stay. But we had a very good reason for closing our garage: our whole hotel was equipped with new matresses and we needed the garage to store them.

Thank you again and best regards
