I stayed at the Konigshof Hotel on 9th May and the best thing about this hotel is the location.
Its supposed to be five star and there is no doubt that the room rates are very espensive. I paid over €400.00 for 1 night and breakfast was €29 extra.
Breakfast was special with full silver service and a fantastic view over the bustling Karlstad plaza. The food and service was excellent but its not worth €29.00. You can find a good breakfast nearby for €6.00 so if you stay here for the location then I suggest you dine out.
The room was luxurious with gold plated taps and all mod cons. The wellness area is very small and the sauna was not working and very little steam in the steamroom. The jacuzzi was OK but it did not have a swimming pool which is dissappointing. However the bathrobes, towels and all the other little extras e.g. free hair comb slippers etc was impressive. BUT you are paying for it.
My overall impression was that this hotel is overpriced.
The staff are excellent and I would certainly return if the hotel drops their prices by 50%.
I will not be going back purely because of their prices.
