“first time Munich”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 March 2012

We arrived via train from Paris, easy access to hotel via cab, found out later hotel has a railway connection below on Munich suburban line, also lots of shops including great supermarkets directly below Hotel. This is a large and busy hotel, lots of tour groups start out here, precisely what we were doing.Check in went perfectly, room was excellent, spacious well designed rooms with everything that you could want, except reasonably priced wifi access.Location seems good as easy walking to plenty of Munich attractions,Oktoberfest was in full swing, everyone really friendly, locals go out of their way to help with directions etc.I really cannot fault the Hotel in any way,the included breakfasts were superb and staff always courteous and eager to assist with directions ,maps and the like. When we return to Munich this Hotel will be my first choice, yes it is busy, and the wi fi is expensive but apart from that we had a ball.
.

Room Tip: Not sure,Hotel is very big, rooms all good.

Do not stay here unless you like staying with tons of tour bus patrons. I have stayed here many times for business and am disappointed every time. It takes forever to check in and out because of the large crowds of people at one time. The front desk staff is surly and unhelpful. There is no wifi in the rooms or ameniites in the bathroom. You get a bottle of soap mounted on the wall lest you take home a bar of soap with you. You get 2 small, scratchy towels and plastic glasses.

I stayed at this hotel for just one night and to be honest was quite impressed. I was expecting it to be on a similar level to uk holiday inns but it was of a much better quality. Staff were polite there was a really amusing bartender in the lobby and they played Bee Gees, Michael Jackson and Black Eyed Peas all night!! The rooms were nice, very clean but we did have a problem with the air conditioning not working so it was very warm. When I booked the hotel it did say that there was a gym but there isn't. They tell you of one you can use elsewhere for a fee of 10 euros per day - bit of a con really. The wi fi as others have said only works in the lobby. Breakfast was good plenty of choice and there is the underground station in the hotel which will take you to the city centre or to the airport.

I would recommend this hotel it was a pleasant stay.

Although this hotel is really clean and fresh there are some fundamental problems which irk me... They only have WiFi in the lounge/lobby area (not in the rooms) and charge €24 for the privilege - with no concession for being a Priority Reward Platinum Ambassador. One thing to watch out for mind, if you go for the wired connection in the room they charge €22 but don't actually say so (at least not that I noticed) only found out at checkout time.. Also, while the bar/lounge is adequately staffed, the couple of times I used it they tended to gaggle around the TV watching the football. Having said that, the food (although somewhat limited in choice) is well prepared and very tasty. All in all it's a reasonably good hotel convenient for the S-Bahn so good links for all over. Next time though, I'm trying the Hilton across the road...

I visited the hotel in mid February during a period of extremely bad weather, so I really did appreciate that you can get from the hotel to the train station through the underground shopping center! Just make sure that you leave the train station from the exit towards the center of town.

The hotel was excellent, very nicely furnished rooms and public areas, good service, and an excellent breakfast (hot and cold stuff, with some hot stuff made right on the spot) and a really nice espresso machine. It would be better if Internet access was included in the price, especially since the Stadt Bibliothek across the street does offer free Internet access! As far as the hotel is concerned, I was extremely happy with my choice.

The hotel is outside the city center, you can get on foot to the Deutches Museum (which I heartily recommend), but little else. You can take the S-Bahn (suburban rail) from the adjacent train station (Rosennheimer Platz) though and be at Marienplatz in 2 stops or the central train station in 4 stops. Nearly all S-Bahn trains pass through the station, so you never have to wait for more than 5 minutes. Furthermore, you can take the S8 train directly to and from the airport from the same station and be there in less than 40 minutes. The train system is quite expensive (regular tickets are 2.50 EUR) and some walking is required for most galleries and museums, but for short trips there are half price tickets (for example, from the Hotel to Marienplatz you can use the half price ticket). Plan ahead for this, as moving around Munich ends up being quite expensive at these prices.
